General Description

Charm and character sit comfortably alongside modern conveniences in this welcoming retreat.

The large hallway is a fitting entrance to this impressive mid 19th century home. To your left is the delightful snug, with an open fire it's a lovely cosy room to escape to with a good book. There’s also a useful desk in here in case you have to do any (though not too much!) work whilst you’re away. On the opposite side of the hallway is the charming living room, which has beautiful original coving and a ceiling rose. The sofas are arranged in front of the wood burning stove and there’s a TV for entertainment in here too, perfect for cosy evenings in. There's also a piano if you'd prefer to make your own entertainment!

The kitchen-diner can be found at the back of the house. A wonderful, bright room, the country-style kitchen has an electric oven and hob, as well as the all important toaster and kettle. The butler’s sink mirrors the other period features of the house but there’s also a built-in dishwasher if you don’t fancy washing up by hand. The large dining table makes this a great social space, ideal for convivial mealtimes. A handy utility room houses the fridge-freezer and a washer-dryer, should you wish to make use of that during your stay.

Finally on the ground floor is a wonderful garden room. Doubling as a second snug, in here you’ll find a sofa and another television with DVD player - so there’ll be no need to fight over the remote! As the name suggests, you have a delightful view of the garden and French doors lead out to the patio area. A handy ground floor WC can also be found off the garden room.

Up the grand staircase on the first floor you’ll find the 4 beautiful bedrooms.

The master bedroom has an inviting king size bed and a wonderful outlook over the garden and surrounding countryside from its dual aspect windows. This bedroom has its own en-suite shower room, with a WC, washbasin and modern shower cubicle - perfect for reinvigorating muscles tired from walking.

A second king size room can be found at the front of the house and is just as lovely as the first. Opposite this king size room is a bedroom with a small, ¾ bed - making it a generous single room or a cosy double for 2 people sharing. Last but not least is the bunk bedroom at the rear of the house.

Also on the first floor is the family bathroom. With a WC, washbasin and bath with shower over, all tastes are catered for whether you prefer a refreshing shower or a relaxing soak in the tub.

Outside is a fantastic large garden. The patio area by the garden room has outdoor furniture, making it a lovely spot for dining al fresco. The large area of lawn is ideal for games and picnic lunches. Boarded by a wilder area, be sure to keep your eyes peeled for the wide variety of birds and wildlife, including rare red squirrels, that also like to visit High House - or its garden at least! Note: Children must be supervised when outside due to a stream bordering one side of the garden.

There is ample parking on the driveway at the house.
