This small but delightful detached bungalow in Patterdale, just a mile from the bustling village of Glenridding at the foot of the Kirkstone Pass, is perfect for a couple or two friends looking for a tranquil retreat. The location is an ideal starting point for a range of great walks in the local area, including the valley of Deepdale between Ullswater and Brotherswater. A haven for walkers, local peaks include Helvellyn, St Sunday Crag and Stony Cove Pike (all within 5 miles).

Set back from the road, the front door of this inviting property is at the rear and as you step inside leave your cares behind. The interior is full of vibrant colours and a home-from-home feel. The lounge has a sofa, armchair, bookcase and wood burner, creating a cosy feel. The dining table is in front of the large window that floods the room with natural light and has views of Place Fell. The kitchen has everything you need to rustle up some hearty meals after a day of activities. There are two bedrooms - one double and one single. Completing the property is a bathroom. To the rear is a small patio with a bench and a table with two chairs, an ideal spot for morning coffees or an al fresco meal. Another bench is at the front, nestled amongst the shrubs and foliage.

Head to Ullswater and take a trip on one of the steamers from the pier (9 miles). With stops along the way, you can visit the Aira Force Waterfall, Howtown and the lakeside village of Pooley Bridge, where you'll find plenty of welcoming pubs and restaurants. Windermere is only 12 miles away, and here you can go paddleboarding, kayaking or hire a boat. Alternatively, discover Dalemain Mansion and Historic Gardens (11 miles), famous for its marmalade and located within a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Weve just got back after spending two weeks here. The cottage was a perfect home from home. It had everything that we needed during our stay. The cottage was very clean and well equipped. It was comfortable for 3 of us. Nice TV and DVD player. Small garden so if you have a dog take it for a walk. Plenty of walks nearby. Well located for all areas of the Lakes. Parking was easy. Recommended.

This holiday rental is far smaller than the photos suggest. It was tiny and internal doors had to be sliding ones, as there is no room for them to open. No room for the dog crate. It was very clean and had good WiFi. The gated driveway is difficult to access safely due to it being on a sharp bend on the main road through Patterdale. The shower presRead moresure was poor. The sofa and chair are not comfortable at all. Over priced (674 for 3 nights) Hide

The cottage offers privacy, excellent view surrounded by birds and is very well equipped, the landlord supplied the essentials (plus extras!) which mean lesser to worry about, particularly well thought out for people arriving in the evening! An excellent vacation cottage with comforts.
