This quaint little holiday home was previously part of a working farm, and today its charming stone walls contain a stylish dwelling with space for one or two. It’s in a lovely spot surrounded by nature and walking trails, with car-free access to two of the Lake District’s 214 Wainwrights, Little Mell Fell (1 mile) or Gowbarrow Fell (2.5 miles). Locally, enjoy a drink of local ale at the friendly pub 1 mile away, or head to the waterfront hotel (1.5 miles) for an indulgent spa treatment and scenic swim.
Enter the glass doors into a welcoming open-plan living area, complete with a comfy sofa, footstool, and TV with Sky channels. The decor blends contemporary facilities with original features such as ceiling beams and atmospheric vaulted ceilings. Cook up fried breakfasts and yummy dinners in the sweet farmhouse kitchen, complete with apron sink, then sit down to romantic meals at the wooden table. The super-king-size bedroom features a DAB radio, and an en-suite bathroom with a shower over the bath. In good weather, make the most of the cottage’s enclosed seating area, featuring a fire pit to keep you cosy. You can admire stunning views of Little Mell Fell and Priest Crag as you sip your morning coffee or nightcap.
There’s so much to do nearby, whether that’s admiring the popular Aira Force waterfalls (4.5 miles) part of the Ullswater Way, or climbing the majestic Helvellyn, England's third-highest peak (7 miles). The friendly village of Pooley Bridge (3 miles) is well worth a visit, with its cafés, shops and tourist information centre. If you’re lucky, you may even be able to enjoy a day’s skiing (15 miles).
