Nestled between the Lake District National Park and the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this well-presented lodge is ideal for families who love the great outdoors. Located in the peaceful Cumbrian village of Calthwaite, you have plenty of countryside walks on your doorstep  The local area is perfect for outdoor activities such as walking, cycling, canoeing and climbing; after a busy day, you can return home to soak aching limbs in your hot tub under the stars.

One of five properties at this location, this charming lodge is within the Calthwaite Estate and occupies a tranquil rural position. Immaculately presented throughout, floor-to-ceiling windows and light tones create a light and airy space for you to relax in. The open-plan living area consists of a comfortable lounge, a well-equipped kitchen and ample dining seating for everyone. Down the hall, there are two lovely bedrooms, an en-suite and a shower room. During the summer months, you can enjoy al fresco dining on the terrace, whilst the hot tub is the perfect way to unwind whatever the weather. There’s also a paddock for horses, should you need it.

Despite the rural location, you’re only 8 miles from the bustling town of Penrith and 14 miles from the county capital of Carlisle, both of which have a range of shops, eateries and amenities to choose from. Just south of Penrith, you can access the northern lakes with Ullswater and its stunning scenery and famous steamers only 13.5 miles away. The twin room was very small with only a very small space between the beds. Otherwise comfortable. It had a nice lounge area in the lodge and the hot tub was nice

On entering the lodge we were greatly impressed by the warmth and the cleanliness. The lounge area was clean and comfortable. A lot had been packed into a relatively small space. The twin bed room was a bit tight on access but all bedding was comfortable and the duvet had a good TOG rating. We particularly liked the two walk-in showers. Dining at tRead morehe Calthwaite on-site restaurant is a must - the food is excellent. Be sure to book in advance. All in all a good end of season stay. Thanks. Hide
