This cottage offers a romantic retreat for a couple to get away from it all with fabulous walks from your doorstep and the market town of Keswick just 6 miles away.
If you’re looking for a peaceful place to stay in the heart of the Lakes, this is ideal for an outdoors-loving couple. It’s in the pretty village of Rosthwaite at the southern end of Borrowdale Valley 3 miles from Derwentwater and 6.5 miles from Keswick, the adventure capital of the UK.
The pretty, detached cottage is bright and welcoming throughout. There’s everything you need in the cosy open-plan lounge/kitchen/dining area, and space to chill out with the wall-mounted electric fire on in front of the Smart TV. Across the hall is the lovely, bright bedroom with cosy furnishings and lots of storage for your holiday gear. There’s also a family bathroom with a bath and shower over. You and your furry friends can use the lovely, big, shared garden, which has wonderful views and there’s somewhere to sit and enjoy the sunshine or a drink in the evening sun.
There’s a village shop, pubs, and a tearoom in Rosthwaite and it’s surrounded by fells just waiting to be explored. Keen walkers might want to do some or all of the 15-mile segment of the Coast to Coast route from Rosthwaite to Patterdale, where William Wordsworth spent his childhood. It’s also the start of the Striding Edge path which takes you to the top of Helvellyn. There’s plenty to see nearby, including Galleny Force Waterfall and Black Moss Pot – a great spot for wild swimming – less than 1 mile away. Go canoeing, paddleboarding or kayaking on one of the lakes or rock climbing on the crags. Head to Keswick (6.5 miles away) to do some shopping or eat out – there’s also a cinema and theatre there. For a treat/treatment, book yourselves into the spa 3 miles away.
