A spacious stone house in the heart of the Lake District with wonderful views, this is a splendid holiday base for families or friends. The traditional Lakeland property, sleeping eight, is in the pretty village of Rosthwaite, overlooking the Borrowdale Valley. The fells and wonderful walks are at your door and beautiful Derwentwater is less than 4 miles away.
Your entrance to this characterful house is through the pretty, country-style kitchen. Next door is the large lounge, with magnificent countryside and mountain views. This welcoming space has original ceiling beams, ample comfortable seating, and a wood burner where you can toast your toes on chilly nights. French doors lead to a dining annexe, where families or friends can enjoy a meal together against the scenic backdrop. A small room with table football and board games is ideal for nights in. Upstairs are four attractively furnished bedrooms, all looking out to the fells. Outside is a secluded patio, with the same glorious view. There is also a garden and lawn, shared with neighbouring holiday homes.
Rosthwaite boasts a restaurant and farm shop selling tasty Lakeland produce, along with a tearoom. The lovely market town of Keswick (6.5 miles), known as Queen of the Lakes, has a wealth of attractions, including Kong Adventure Centre, with indoor and outdoor activities for all ages. Hope Park has beautiful gardens, a cafe, and a games area where you can have fun with crazy golf and steering remote-controlled boats on a miniature Derwentwater. Explore the real thing on a 50-minute boat trip with a hop-on-and-off service at eight jetties around the lake. From Keswick, visit Castlerigg Stone Circle (1.5 miles), one of Britain’s most striking prehistoric monuments.
