- We enjoyed many things about Dodd.. very comfy beds & sofas, great showers x2, it felt spacious accommodation, a large kitchen that can be made cosy with a gas heater, utility room with hanging space for our outdoor gear. We had a cold wet week so unfortunately we couldn’t sit outside & enjoy but there is a table in the garden to sit and have a drink etc. The Area around Dodd suited us well. Tho cottage situation is v near a road one could access Dodd wood quickly on foot...the viewpoints for the Osprey site is situated there.. at busy times (& when birds there April-June ish) there’s RSPB people & scopes set out to view nest.., there’s also a nice little cafe in car park for coffee, soup & scones (the old sawmill) .. Mirehouse house & garden just across the road & worth a visit..There’s the lovely St Begas church situated by the lakeside..one of us attended a service there (held once a month I think).. all easily walkable from the cottage & well worth a visit. We even visited the smaller sized but very friendly wildlife park up at the top of Bassenthwaite Lake & enjoyed ourselves ..Cottage didn’t have local maps etc in order to plan on our visit but they can be hot in keswick. Cottage was clean & well prepared for our visit so Id recommend the cottage.

Hi Tricia, thank you for taking the time to write a review. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. It's a lovely place for a relaxing break isn't it? And the location is stunning, it sounds like you enjoyed some great days out. I hope you can come back to explore more of the Lakes soon.
