Had a really good family holiday at Dodd View. When we arrived house was totally ready for us. It was both very clean and every thing in it of high quality. Our only negative comments would be regarding the garden. Realising this is a new cottage for rent we would presume the garden will be tackled at some point. It was rather overgrown in areas with brambles nettles etc. The far end was not suitable for little ones and where the fruit had fallen from the trees, they were covered in wasps. We looked to see if we could see a nest but didn't find one but on the first day the dog got stung on its paw from standing on one, so again we had to tell our grandson not to go in that area. Having said all this we were still able to play in the garden and have a good time.
We would recommend Dodd View to friends.

This is a lovely property, which would suit 4 to 6 people nicely. It's only 3 miles out of Keswick - so reasonably handy for local amenities. However, if you are a dog walker, please note that you'll need to travel a short distance (in the car) up the main road before reaching a place where this can be done.

Please also note that the owners are not over generous with daily needs and you will therefore need to consider bringing the following -

--Bread, eggs, milk, sugar, salt, pepper, margarine/butter, shampoo, soap and any of the other basics (the welcome pack comprised a packet of the Kendal mints and a packet of coffee, which would really need a coffee pot for brewing).
..Bin liners (one left for the week)
..Dish washer tablets (they left two for the week but, thankfully, Sally's cottages provided more)
..Washing machine powder/tablets
--Spare towels (unless doing a washing) and spare toilet rolls
--Matches for the fire, if needed. There are also no tools for the fire (poker, etc)
..A hair dryer

There was no explanatory brochure and the wifi did not work at first because all the data for the month had been used up. Sally's cottages provided a copy brochure and fixed the wifi problem with the owner after a couple of days.

At first we thought there was only one bathroom. However, the other bathroom door (which had a Chubb lock on it and appeared to be locked) was simply stiff and opened with a firm hand.

Overall, a very nice property and well managed by Sally's cottages but a bit sparse on basics.

Hi Findlay, thank you for taking the time to write a review. I'm glad you enjoyed your break, it's a lovely place to relax and recharge the batteries isn't it? And the location is stunning, I hope you enjoyed exploring.
I really appreciate your feedback and suggestions for improvement and will certainly look into it, thank you. I hope you can come back to explore more of the Lakes soon.

Very suited to 3 adult couples. Beds are fabulous and the 2 x bath/shower rooms plus a downstairs wc kept everyone happy at peak times! Kitchen and big dining table is just perfect for getting together to discuss the day ahead and reminise the day gone by. The garden area could be bettered with trimming back to open up to the fantastic views and distant beauty. Plenty of parking. Wonderful silence. Not much local amenities but having the car overcame that. Overall, a great place to spend a week exploring the Lakes. Would definitely stay again.
