Property code: SZ193

Close to Dodd Wood and Mirehouse, this delightfully updated cottage offers warm and cosy accommodation for a couple or a small family seeking a serene lakeside holiday cottage with wonderful views.

A delightful cottage that's sure to charm, this is a lovely home from home for three to four people and one dog. Inside, you'll find a well-equipped kitchen and lovely living/dining room on the ground floor; upstairs there are two bedrooms, a king size and a single and the family bathroom. Outside the cottage is a generous shared parking area and a wonderful rear garden with fantastic views over the surrounding countryside towards the fells and Bassenthwaite Lake beyond.

There are a wealth of walking opportunities on offer nearby; from high fells to lower level walks, there's something for everyone here. Head to Dodd Wood just over the road from the cottage, after a short but steep climb you'll be rewarded by stunning panoramic views from the summit. Serious hikers can tackle Skiddaw, England's fourth highest mountain, or why not enjoy a more sedate pace with a walk along the shore of Bassenthwaite Lake? The historic stately home of Mirehouse is just down the road from the cottage and has beautiful gardens to explore, as well as an adventure playground for younger children. The nearby Lake District Wildlife Park is another fun day out for families too.

The bustling market town of Keswick is less than a 10-minute drive away and has plenty to offer. Indulge in some retail therapy, there is a great selection of outdoor and independent shops, or enjoy an evening out at the family-run cinema or take in a play at the renowned Theatre by the Lake. Adrenaline junkies can sign up for an activity with one of the local adventure companies or why not walk an alpaca at nearby Whinlatter Forest for something a little bit different?! Head west from the cottage to the picturesque Solway Coast. Enjoy fish and chips and an ice cream at the nearby seaside villages of Allonby or Silloth, followed by a bracing walk along the shore.

This charming cottage, not far from beautiful Bassenthwaite Lake, has been recently renovated througout. On the ground floor is a welcoming country kitchen. Well equipped with an electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer and a handy microwave, the chefs in the group are sure to love cooking up a feast in here. There's also a useful integrated washer/dryer should you with to make use of this during your stay. You'll find the dining table in the open plan living/dining room. Gather round the dining table and compare notes on the day's events over a home-cooked meal, or spread out maps and guidebooks whilst you plan tomorrow's adventures. Relax in front of the feature electric stove, perfect for cosy evenings in. There's a TV in here too, or simply unwind with a good book.

Upstairs on the first floor are the two bedrooms and family bathroom. The master bedroom is a lovely king-size room. As the name suggests, there are lovely views over the surrounding fields and fells beyond, so why not bring your morning cuppa back to bed and spend a few peaceful moments enjoying the views? The second bedroom has a single bed. Along the landing is the family bathroom, which has a WC, wash basin and bath with shower over - perfect whether you prefer a relaxing soak in the bath or a refreshing shower.

Outside to the rear of the cottage is a fantastic garden that's sure to be a hit with adults, children and dogs alike! There is a large area of lawn and outdoor furniture, perfect for enjoying a picnic lunch alfresco.

There's also a generous shared parking area next to the cottage.

Lovely location, easy parking facilities. The cottage was cosy and fairly clean but a more comprehensive booklet on the facilities and local amenities would be helpful. Timers on the heaters and bathroom need to be reset. Although the road was nearby the cottage was quiet.
