Property code: OC-SZ290

Stay in this light-filled, contemporary, first-floor apartment in the heart of Keswick, perfect for a couple looking for a comfortable and stylish base from which to launch into the Lake District. This apartment is one of seven in the building, a characterful Victorian Lakeland slate building dating from 1860, set in a quiet side street just 100-metre stroll from the bustling centre of Keswick, with its pubs, restaurants, shops, art deco cinema, theatre and attractions. Parking can sometimes be a headache in Keswick, but with this property you have the advantage of a private parking permit, so your lovely day in the Lakes won’t be marred by hunting for a parking space.

Keswick is a jewel in the northern Lake District's crown, located on the shore of beautiful Derwentwater. It's a vibrant market town with a wonderful atmosphere where you can indulge your wild side with any number of adventurous outdoor activities or pamper your taste buds with a huge range of eateries offering great local food and Cumbrian real ales. The walking and cycling on offer here is second to none, with paths and tracks for gentle, picturesque strolls or Lake District giants such as Skiddaw to climb if you're feeling more energetic.

Ancient and mysterious, Castlerigg Stone Circle is just over a mile up the hill from this property. Dating from around 3000 BC, it is one of the most stunningly situated stone circles you will find, with breathtaking views in all directions. Magnificent Derwentwater is just a 10 minute walk away, here you can hire a rowing boat, take a launch around the lake or simply lose yourself in the scenery.

Comfortable, light-filled Kingfisher offers a well-appointed and welcoming base to enjoy all the sights and activities the area has to offer.

This property is a first floor, one bedroom apartment with open-plan living, dining and kitchen areas flooded with natural light from two large sash windows. It has been stylishly and comfortably modernised and includes a private parking permit (a rarity in central Keswick).

The living area features a lovely Victorian fireplace (not working), a Smart TV, a two-seater leather sofa and a retro G-Plan sideboard. The dining table seats up to four, and is next to the double windows, which look out to Southey Street and across to the slate-built Keswick Methodist Church.

The large kitchen area has an island sink and dishwasher. This leaves lots of work surface space along the back wall for keen chefs, and there's a range of appliances including a fan oven/microwave, an induction hob, and a fridge with ice box. You will also find a shared washer/dryer on the mezzanine floor outside (used by three other apartments).

The bedroom looks out over the back of the house and includes a king-size bed, with plenty of storage in a wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside drawers. The spacious en-suite bathroom has a heated towel rail, WC, wash basin with cabinet, mirror with integral shaver point, and a large corner shower cabinet with dual overhead and handset chrome shower heads, offering a generous rainfall drenching experience, a real luxury after an energetic day spent on the fells.

The apartment is one of seven in the building and is accessed via a shared entrance.

  • 1 king-size bedroom
  • 1 en-suite shower room with shower and WC
  • Fan oven / microwave, induction hob, dishwasher, fridge with ice compartment
  • Shared washer/dryer
  • Gas central heating
  • Smart TV
  • Wi-Fi included
  • Regret no garden
  • Parking permit provided for the church car park across the road
  • Pub 50m
  • Derwentwater 1 mile
  • Arrival: 16:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00

Excellent location, easy to access the whole of Keswick. The accommodation was pleasant and clean. It was quiet and the parking nearby was a bonus. I would use this accommodation again on my next visit.

Lovely 1st floor apartment, very well located in centre of Keswick. Comfortable bed. Well equipped with everything you need. Parking over the road - just a stride away. Some noise from the apartment above but theres very little can be done about that so not really the owners issue and not a complaint.

Excellent location with free parking across the road. We stayed in this building 6 years ago (Egret) and remember it being to a great standard. Kingfisher, however, does feel a bit worn. I don't usually leave reviews, and I wouldn't have had it just been one or two things that should obviously be fixed, but there are several. The communal hallwRead moreays smelt of stale cigarettes the entire week we were there. There is mould inside the shower and on the ceiling of the bathroom, near the extractor fan. The shower itself has 2 heads, a detachable one and a rainfall. The rain fall head is more like a drizzle as the pressure is very weak. The detachable one isn't much better and looks like it's had better days. A replacement shower head isn't expensive and this would be very easy to replace. The sofa is small and SO uncomfortable. After long days of fell walking, I just wanted somewhere comfortable to sit and put my feet up. I really liked that I could access my subscriptions on the TV. We stayed for a week and made most of the kitchen, which was good and had basic tools to cook with. However, only 1 bingbag was provided. Even just a spare one at the bottom of the bin would have been good and saved us going to the shop to buy an entire roll. If we knew this, we could have brought our own. One pan was in a terrible condition and just needs replacing! - again, would be very cheap to replace. Thermostat is easy to use and the flat was always warm. In the bedroom, there's lots of room to store your bags and clothes. The window needs a blind as the curtains are very thin and let in light as soon as the sun comes up. On that note, the curtain was hanging off on the right side as some of the hooks are broken. The flat was mostly clean but there was lots of dead flies around the flat, on the carpet and on the duvet but the worst was on the small lamp above the dining table, which looked like it hadn't been cleaned for a month given how many flies had died on there It's small things like this and attention to detail and the fact that the issues outlined are easy to fix, but haven't been, which would have made it an overall better stay. A lovely flat in a great location. Snug and warm during a particularly cold spell. The use of the church for parking was really helpful, as on road parking is very busy. The assortment of goodies left on arrival was a lovely touch. A problem with the fridge was dealt with quickly. The flat was clean except for the shower, which needed a more thorRead moreough clean, but this didnt put us off our holiday and Im sure this will be sorted for future guests. The apartment is well equipped and layout is good. It is in a great location, close to the centre of town but in a quiet road. However the noise from the apartment above was not good with every footstep, shower etc being heard.
