  • Elegant style welcomes you inside
Property code: OC-SZ544

The nice holiday home is a light, modern, second floor apartment in the heart of Keswick, perfect for a couple looking for a comfortable and stylish base from which to launch into the Lake District. Wagtail is one of seven apartments in Easedale House, a characterful Victorian Lakeland slate building dating from 1860, set in a quiet side street just 100m stroll from the bustling centre of Keswick, with its pubs, restaurants, shops, art-deco cinema, theatre and attractions. Parking can sometimes be a headache in Keswick, but with Wagtail you have the advantage of a private parking permit, so your lovely day in the Lakes won’t be marred by hunting for a parking space.

Keswick is a jewel in the northern Lake District's crown, located on the shore of beautiful Derwentwater. It's a vibrant market town with a wonderful atmosphere where you can indulge your wild side with any number of adventurous outdoor activities or pamper your taste buds with a huge range of eateries offering great local food and Cumbrian real ales. The walking and cycling on offer here is second to none, with paths and tracks for gentle, picturesque strolls or Lake District giants such as Skiddaw to climb if you're feeling more energetic.

Ancient and mysterious, Castlerigg Stone Circle is just over a mile up the hill from Keswick. Dating from around 3000 BC, it is one of the most stunningly situated stone circles you will find, with breathtaking views in all directions. Magnificent Derwentwater is just a 10 minute walk away from Easedale House, here you can hire a rowing boat, take a launch around the lake or simply lose yourself in the scenery.

Comfortable, stylish property offers a well-appointed and welcoming base to enjoy all the sights and activities the area has to offer.

This impressive holiday home is a second floor, one bedroom apartment in a complex with open-plan living, dining and kitchen areas flooded with natural light from two large sash windows. It has been stylishly and comfortably modernised and includes a private parking permit (a rarity in central Keswick).

The living area features a lovely Victorian fireplace (not working), Smart TV, a two-seater leather sofa and a luxurious lacquered sideboard. The dining table seats three to four and is next to the double windows, which look down onto Southey Street and across to the slate-built Keswick Methodist Church. Beyond the skyline of the town you can see the North-Western fells.

The large kitchen area has an island sink and dishwasher. This leaves space along the back wall for plenty of work surfaces for keen chefs, and there's a range of appliances including a fan oven/microwave, an induction hob, and a fridge with ice box. You will also find a shared washer/dryer on the mezzanine floor downstairs (used by three other apartments).

The bedroom looks out over the back of the house with a view of the fells, it has a king-size bed, with ample storage in a double wardrobe, dressing table, and bedside drawers. The bathroom is en-suite and has a heated towel rail, WC, wash basin with cabinet, mirror with integral shaver point and a large corner shower cabinet with dual overhead and handset chrome shower heads, offering a generous rainfall drenching experience, a real luxury after an energetic day spent on the fells.

  • 1 king-size bedroom
  • 1 en-suite shower room
  • Fan oven/microwave, an induction hob, fridge with ice box and a handy dishwasher
  • Washer/dryer downstairs on mezzanine floor, shared with three apartments in the building
  • Smart TV
  • Wi-Fi included
  • A parking permit is provided for the church car park across the road, please be sure to leave this in the apartment after your stay
  • Shops, restaurants and pubs 0.5 miles
  • Accessed via a shared entrance
  • Arrival: 16:00 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00

Nice apartment and good to have private parking. Sofa could be larger, or an additional chair as this wasn't really suitably comfortable for two adults.

We absolutely loved it. Everything equipment wise in the apartment. Comfortable bed and great shower. The only thing which was mentioned in other reviews was the sofa. After a long day walking it's not the most comfortable to fit two people on when wanting to relax. I would definitely book here again but maybe a different room with a bigger comfy cRead moreouch. The property is in a great location and makes an excellent base for a walking break. We were unable to park when we first arrived, due to a dance class taking place in the church, but the arrangements were ok for the rest of our stay. Wagtail is well-equipped, but the dining chairs could do with a bit of wood glue on the arms, and a second sofa or Read moremore comfortable armchair would have been welcome. Would definitely re-book. Hide

The plusses for the apartment we stayed at 'Easdale House' was it'scentral location. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was modern and the decor was OK. The negative were that the furnishings were tired and well used.
