This property retains stacks of character with its attractive stone exterior, interior exposed wooden frame and beams, and cathedral ceiling. You access the flat via the outdoor stairs and come into the open-plan lounge/kitchen, complete with a door to the balcony offering those priceless views – whatever the weather. The lofty ceiling incorporates the exposed frame, giving it a charming and airy feel. The modern fitted kitchen runs along two walls affording plenty of space and mod cons for self-catering endeavours. The dining room has a table easily seating four by the stairs which lead up to the mezzanine level housing a double bedroom, joining a twin (or super-king) on the first floor. Catbells is 5 miles and paths to Skiddaw start around 3.5 miles away if you fancy a challenge. If you’re after something more sedate, take a trip on a traditional steamboat on Derwentwater or even hire your own rowing, sail or electric boat.

We had a lovely week at the loft. It was clean, well equipped and in a good location for exploring the northern lakes. Lovely views from the balcony, even spotted an Osprey! Owner/manager both very welcoming and informative about local walks and things to do. We walked a circular of Skiddaw from the cottage, Keswick is a ten minute drive. Little biRead moret of road noise from the a591 but otherwise no complaints! Hide

This is a lovely clean property, reasonablly priced with fantastic views. The location affords easy access to the A66, making it great for exploring the Northern lakes area. The area is quiet, thought there are two good places to eat nearby (Sun Inn and Raven Stone Mannor).
