This is a self-catering apartment in a barn conversion in the Newlands Valley. The property boasts superb views across one the most tranquil and unspoilt areas that the Lake District has to offer. Four people can be accommodated in the ground-floor apartment which has two en-suite bedrooms and an open-plan living area. There is another apartment above, also sleeping four, and they can be let together to accommodate eight.

 

The Newlands Valley is the ideal destination for everyone whether it be to enjoy gentle strolls along the fells or more strenuous walks over Robinson, Catbells and Maiden Moor. The Newlands Adventure Centre offer ghyll scrambling, climbing, kayaking and numerous other outdoor activities. Buttermere, Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite are only a short drives away. The Swinside Inn serving good food and ales is a pleasant 30-minute walk from the apartment.

 

Little Town which is a gentle stroll from the accommodation was the setting for Beatrix Potter's Mrs Tiggy Winkle. The village of Braithwaite and the market town of Keswick with its numerous amenities are only 3 miles away. For a lovely relaxing evening out there is the wonderful Theatre by the Lake in Keswick.

 

Situated all on one level, this is one of two apartments converted from former farm buildings retaining original stone facades and internal beams. The ground-floor apartment has two spacious bedrooms, one double with an en-suite which has a bath, WC and basin, and a further twin bedroom with an en-suite which has a shower enclosure, WC and basin. Both bedrooms have wall mounted TVs in them.

 

The open-plan living area is spacious with a well-equipped kitchen which includes an electric oven with ceramic hob, washing machine, under-counter fridge with freezer compartment, microwave and plenty of storage space.

 

There is a comfortable lounge area with large 42inch widescreen TV. There is also a table and chairs for dining, which seats four.

 

Outside the cottage is a seating area with stunning views across the Newlands Valley fells, ideal for a morning coffee or evening tipple as you watch the sunset. There is also a storage room which is shared with guests of the neighbouring properties. Guests are welcome to store muddy boots and equipment as well as bikes and it is advised that guests bring their own bike locks.

We've stayed in all areas of the lakes and this is by far the most stunning location we've been to . The views are awsome and the location for all levels of walks is perfect. The property is easily accessed,ample parking and did i mention the views,amazing. So glad we found this cottage.

We went to the Keswick convention week 3 as a family so the location was perfect, we were hidden away on a mountain but at the same time the car journey to Keswick was only around 15-20min. Great cottage. Very clean but with a few aging issues. Stunning views, an unbelievable location. Very quiet when you are the only guests but noticeably noisy when there are people staying above , which is ok if they go to bed at reasonable hours ( which they did). The cottage felt damp and had black mould in the shower room. There were handles missing from furniture and nearly all the crockery was chipped. There were steps into the property, double bedroom and a step up into the shower which had a sliding door that only opened halfway with no handrails. If you have mobility problems DO NOT Book this place. TRead morehere were no drawers in the double bedroom, hardly any hangers - clothes had to be kept in our suitcase. Great location with outstanding views and walks from the doorstep. Well equipped, modern kitchen and bathrooms that were adequate for a weeks stay. Small issue with the heating that the owner had rectified swiftly. Some noise from the apartment above (footsteps etc), but nothing too bad and certainly didn't cause any issues.

Lovely place and views. However, I would not be staying here again.. It was a bit noisy. Some buttons and finishing need to be replaced. We heard every step - and other things we did not want to hear, ahum - from our upstairs neighbors.

Let's start off with the positives, the location here is absolutely stunning, the view of Cat Bells to wake up to is lovely, and it's very tucked away. However, the property left a lot to be desired. There's very serious damp in one the bedrooms. The cookware was all filthy. Curtains, cupboards and walls all had damage, the curtains weren't wide enRead moreough to block light in the bedroom. Lovely setting and nicely fitted out barn conversion. The noise from guests in the upstairs part was a bit of an issue, but we did know about this beforehand. Newlands Valley is stunning and we were blessed with good weather.

Fantastic location! Lovely cottage with plenty of space and everything we needed for a great holiday! Beautiful weather was a bonus! The owner, Kelly, was very helpful and responsive. We found that the extractor fan in the twin en-suite wasn't working when we arrived and she arranged for this to be replaced one day whilst we were out enjoying the lRead moreakes. Spent a week here at Newlands Cottage. Perfect place to relax, chill and enjoy the views. Great location to walk from as loads of walks from the front door. Great pub a good 40 minute walk away, the Swinside Inn. The cottage had everything you need in the kitchen. No WiFi so bring board games or a good book! Stunning views with Catbells on your doorstep. Clean, modern, ten minute car journey into Keswick. The cottage is on the ground floor so the noise from people upstairs might bother some people. Dog friendly, but there is a farm right next door and it isnt secure, so wandering sheep mean they must always be on the lead.

This cottage is situated in a beautiful location, walking from the door step with a short drive to Keswick and Buttermere. The spa passes were an added bonus and was fantastic after sore legs on the hills. The only negative which we found to be minor, was hearing people upstairs but understood that this is due to cottages age. This cottage has so much going for it but it is let down by a poor standard of equipment, 3 dinner plates in a cottage for 4 people was the tip of the iceberg for us, its tired and needs some TLC which wouldnt take the owner much effort, it also didnt come across as having been cleaned after the last occupancy which is disappointing
