Chestnut Cottage is a lovely 16th century cottage in the quiet Cumbrian village of Stainton. This charming cottage has a pretty outlook across the village green, the perfect base for all that the Lake District has to offer.

Sleeping 3 people in two bedrooms, Chestnut Cottage is perfect for friends holidaying together or a couple seeking a little bit more space and comfort. The comfortable sitting room retains the original beams, as does the double bedroom. Chestnut Cottage has been sympathetically furnished to make the most of its character, and to provide a comfortable and relaxing base for a Lake District holiday. A cot is provided for infants however children aged 2-12 are not accepted.

Stainton is a charming village with a good local pub, the Kings Arms, and a lovely hotel restaurant called Brantwood. The village also boasts a farm shop, tearoom and a post office.

Chestnut Cottage is ideally situated for exploring this area of north-east Lakeland. Ullswater is just 5 minutes away by car. There are some lovely footpaths from the village along the River Eamont to Pooley Bridge, and to the neighbouring villages of Dacre and Yanwath both of which have good real ale pubs.
