This cottage is part of a large stone-built barn sympathetically converted into three holiday cottages providing comfortable self-catering accommodation. It is situated in an imposing position at the foot of Blencathra with stunning views across the valley to Threlkeld common and Clough Head. The start of a walk up Blencathra can commence from the front door of the property.

The inn, situated behind the cottage, offers homemade bar meals and good ale, welcoming dogs and children. There are two more great country pubs in Threlkeld only a mile away, both serving good food and fine ales.

The market town of Keswick is just 5 miles away by car along the A66, or by a lovely walk which follows the old railway line with wooded areas and passes over the Victorian iron railway bridges. The imposing mountain of Skiddaw is also only a short distance away.

The large private patio area to the front of the cottage has wonderful views across the fells and is south facing. A further BBQ and picnic area is shared with the two adjoining holiday cottages. The cottage is situated in an easy accesible position by the A66 but set high up above it.

The main doorway leads into a large open-plan dining room and lounge with comfortable seating and TV. There is a dining table and chairs for up to six people. The kitchen leading off from here is well equipped with electric oven and hob, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, microwave and washer/dryer.

The ground floor shower room has shower cubicle, wash basin and WC. A stairway leads down to a double and a twin bedroom, and bathroom with bath and shower over, WC and wash basin. The hallway from this level leads onto the large patio area with table and chairs. The stairway from the ground floor leads onto the first floor with large double bedroom.

There is also an extra sitting-out area in the communal BBQ and large picnic area shared with the adjoining two cottages.

Parking is to the side of the property in a large off-road parking area.

The cottage is well placed directly off the main A66 very close to Keswick and with easy access to the area and free parking is available on site. Once we worked out how to turn the heating and hot water on it was also comfortable. Bed linen is provided but NOT TOWELs which was stated in the description of the cottage but not prominently which wasRead more a problem for us as we were visiting from Australia and expected that this would be included in a property thats supplies linen - go figure. The is also NO INTERNET at this property, another problem for international visitors who are relying on wifi data. This was also mentioned in the cottage bio but not obviously so. Hide

The cottage is in a beautiful setting immediately under Blencathra, with stunning views. The spacious accommodation is on 3 levels and and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The kitchen is very well equipped and lends itself to catering for a large group.

A lovely cottage where we have stayed many many times now over the years. A perfect base for us as a family and weve already got next years trip booked. Any issues and Marie was on hand to help promptly.

A really good location, marred by the niggles of: no towels, missing bulbs, bedside light not working, a lot of white dog hair on carpets, no large frying pan, unsteady microwave, and fridge door not closing properly. Good to have two bathrooms for six adults, nice spacious rooms. Missing a dining room chair. We love these 3 places for staying but maybe they could do with a lick of paint and maybe getting WiFi

What a lovely cottage, right at the foot of Blencathra. We stayed for a week, 5 adults, a child, a baby and 2 dogs. For such a good price we expected it to be basic but it exceeded our expectations. Comfy beds, warm and comfy, plenty of space. We will definitely be coming back again!
