Lying at the foot of Ullock Pike, this lovely holiday property is nestled under the grandeur of Skiddaw and overlooking meadows and woodland towards Bassenthwaite Lake. The property has recently been renovated to a very high standard with beautiful furnishings to create a luxurious yet homey self catering cottage. There is fantastic walking from the front door in the majestic Skiddaw range, smaller Dodd Wood or along the shores of Bassenthwaite Lake. The owners have thoughtfully provided a high specification telescope so you can look out for the visiting ospreys during nesting season. Red squirrels are regular visitors to the Parkergate gardens. The lovely St Bega's church nestles on the lake shore, said to be the inspiration for Alfred Tennyson's Morte d'Arthur after his visit there in 1835.

Bassenthwaite village is a 30-minute walk (1.5 miles) over the fields and is home to a pub which serves good meals and ales and is child and dog friendly. Keswick is just 5 miles away, market day is Thursday and there are plenty of pubs, cafes and outdoor shops to keep you busy on a rainy day.

The sun room also boasts spectacular views, it is open plan to the dining area, furnished with dining table and chairs and a wall-mounted flatscreen TV. The dining area leads through to the country-style kitchen.

Parkergate Farmhouse is a fantastic property in beautiful surroundings with stunning views. The accommodation was perfect for our family group with four bedrooms and four bathrooms. Everywhere was beautifully furnished and very comfortable. The kitchen was extremely well-equipped and having two fridge freezers was a bonus. We enjoyed our stay in this sizeable and well located old farmhouse. It was well equipped and clean with lovely views. It was also surprisingly easy to keep warm. It is a little tired and in need of updating in parts. but we would recommend it as it was comfortable and suited our group of 6 very well.

Great house for our family get together. We were 4 couples with a toddler and it is so well equipped! We did come dine with me evenings and had every utensil and pan needed! The beds are super comfy and there is loads of space. Its also lovely and warm - which was essential after days in the outdoors.

Sadly the coffee machine was broken. The creamer didnt heat the milk. We have one at home and we were very disappointed. The house was clean and spacious and we enjoyed our stay. I also hope the leak in the bathroom has been stopped as someone could slip if it gets much worse. Best wishes Sue Pickering

Gorgeous property throughout and plenty of space. The games room is a brilliant asset! Amazing views from the rear of the cottage and lovely grounds. The property is right on the road though, although there was only 1 night where late night farm machinery disturbed us a bit as we had the window open due to the hot weather! Highly recommend The PheaRead moresant Inn nearby for a meal. Amazing steak and great value. Hide

Pretty much the perfect cottage. The glorious weather helped of course. Lovely terrace to sit and watch the sun go down. Well-equipped kitchen. Lots of room. Comfortable beds. Well positioned for Skiddaw, Dodd and Latrigg etc. Hotel bar just down the road is good and pub suppers at The Sun are good and hearty.
