Set in a tranquil corner on the southern edge of the Lake District, you will find several walking routes and trails within easy reach, such as Finsthwaite Heights walk from Newby Bridge (1 mile). Take to the water on Lake Windermere (2.5 miles) or take a trip on a steam train at Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway (3.5 miles). The pretty village of Cartmel (4 miles) has several restaurants and shops and is steeped in history dating back to the 12th century.
