Nestled amid idyllic countryside around 1.2 miles north of Ulverston, this beautiful barn conversion offers a truly warm welcome. Sleeping up to six people in three beautifully appointed bedrooms, it makes a perfect base for exploring the coast, beaches, landmarks and attractions of the Lake District National Park. With large, sociable spaces and a garden with panoramic valley views, it offers a lovely atmosphere for a family or small group stay.

Lovingly renovated and designed to make the most of the views, this charming abode has been finished to an exceptionally high standard with underfloor heating throughout. Heart of the home is the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, which is light and spacious thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows and high ceilings. With a range oven and induction hob, the kitchen is a delight to prepare meals in, then settle around the dining table to share good food and conversation. In warm weather, dine alfresco in the beautiful garden as you drink in those views. As dusk falls, snuggle in the outdoor seating to watch the stars in the uninterrupted night’s sky, then enjoy quality time with your loved ones in the cosy lounge, wood burner crackling on cooler evenings. After a day of adventuring, three elegant bedrooms invite a blissful night’s sleep. The king-size master room has its own en suite, while the second king-size and twin rooms share the family bathroom.

Situated at the southern edge of the national park, this property is a delight for walkers, hikers and cyclists with an array of beautiful trails nearby. The historic and lively market town of Ulverston (1.2 miles) has a wonderful collection of cosy pubs, traditional markets and cultural hotspots, and it’s known as the ‘party capital of Furness’, thanks to numerous festivals held throughout the year. Head to Newby Bridge (9 miles) to trace the southern tip of Lake Windermere to Lakeside, starting point for Windermere lake cruises.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Swingletrees. The house was beautifully laid out with everything both practically and luxuriously that we could have needed. A lovely barn set in a wonderful location, rural with stunning views but only a few minutes drive from the nearest town. A great base to explore the Lakes from and to return to at the end of the day with its wood burner and warmth. Would happily recommend staying here to anyone.
