Set off on a romantic getaway to this quirky rural cottage with a laid-back bohemian feel inside and a peaceful garden with views of the distant hills. Your four-legged friend will love walking the nature trails that are on your doorstep and throughout the Lake District National Park, and a trip to the coast is within easy reach.

Spend quality time with your other half in the glass-fronted lodge, which offers countryside views from the bright and cosy lounge/kitchen/diner. Unwind on the L-shaped sofa in this open-plan space with attractive patterned flooring. Opposite this comfortable seating area is a sleek and contemporary one-wall kitchen plus a wood burner-effect electric fire, which creates an ambient glow. At the far end of the room is a spacious dining table with wraparound bench seating. Also on the ground floor is a shower room. Climb the wooden steps to reach the mezzanine double bedroom in the attic space with a low ceiling. When you’re done exploring inside, take Fido for a sniff around the owner's large garden and 16 acres of land. There’s also a private patio area with seating and a chiminea.

Enjoy the countryside surroundings while staying near the small village of Ennerdale Bridge (0.5 miles), which has a cafe and pub. Visit the historical Blakeley Raise Stone Circle (1.5 miles) and follow the walking trail to Ennerdale Water (3.5 miles). You’ll also have two waterfalls nearby – Scale Force Waterfall (6.5 miles) and Moss Force Waterfall (9.5 miles), which sit on either side of Buttermere (8.5 miles). Spend a day strolling along the cliff-top paths at St. Bees Head Heritage Coast (9 miles) or head to the beach at Fleswick Bay (9 miles).

We spent 5 nights at this property with our dog and loved it. It had everything you need and the owners Richard and Joan and their daughter were so friendly and welcoming. We had a lovely stay. The property was everything we expected it to be. A great location in a quieter area of The Lakes which is what we were after! Had a fab stay over a long weekend in April. The cottage had pretty much everything we needed and is in a lovely setting. It's in a great location for walking Ennerdale Water. Not too far to head around to Wast Water or Buttermere. Couple of great dinner spots locally too - Fox & Hounds and Shepherd's Inn. The cottage owners were lovely and on handRead more when needed. Amazing stay!! It was our first time staying in the western lakes and it was great. So quiet and relaxed, we enjoyed every second. We couldnt recommend The swift enough. The owners of the farm were so welcoming, nothing was a bother! Thoroughly enjoyed my stay - very comfortable lodge in beautiful surroundings. Really easy to get around to different sites and walks. Hosts were lovely and had a lot of local knowledge which was appreciated. If you have a reactive dog and need an enclosed garden, this isn't the place for you. Fantastic property, loved our stay! Location was stunning, out of the way of everything & still had 2 lovely country pubs within a 10 minute walk. Owners were very welcoming/hospitality was fantastic. Our dog was allowed free roam & made 2 new friends with Luna & Jip the farm dogs (think he enjoyed the stay more than us).
