Leave the rat race and go on holiday to this five-bed house in Askam-in-Furness village, with great views over the Duddon Estuary. The Lake District National Park starts just 5 miles from this traditional property, making it an ideal base for exploring lakes like Coniston Water (14 miles) alongside quaint towns and hills. Add in the coastline of the Furness Peninsula and you’ve got lots of options, making this spacious and versatile house appealing to both an extended family or friendship group.

You’ll feel thoroughly spoilt in this characterful Lakeland house which has stacks to offer both inside and out. There’s a wood burner to cosy up by in the snug, and another in a further comfortable seating area with a dining table. But, in warmer weather, you’re more likely to enjoy spending time in the generous conservatory with another dining table as well as comfortable seating. You can access the exterior space from here and enjoy sundowners with sea views from the patio or dine alfresco in the shared courtyard. The large kitchen has a rustic vibe with its Aga, beamed ceiling and tiled floor. After dinner, retire to the lovely triple-aspect lounge, complete with sumptuous sofa seating, a piano and yet another table for a relaxed yet grand feel. Two sets of stairs go up to the sleeping accommodation which comprises two king-size and three double bedrooms, two of which are en-suite. All of the bedrooms are lovely, exuding calm for a great night’s sleep.

Get to know the Cumbrian coastline which is within 1 mile – you can walk to the Duddon Estuary through the village that also has a train station, takeaways and a pub serving drinks at weekends. Or enjoy forays into the Lake District National Park to experience the majesty of its hills, lakes and fells.

We had a fantastic week here 3 adult 7 kids two dogs It was very clean and everything you may need from pots pans games for kids Lots of room for them to play the out side area was lovely two big garden for dogs to run in and a stone area with bench and table Chris the owner was very helpful and if we needed anything we could of call her

Immaculate, well-appointed, characterful but cosy house with special features including an Aga stove, grand piano and (at reasonable additional cost) use of electric vehicle charging point. Lovely views over the local estuary and towards the Lakeland mountains from house and garden.

We loved our stay in this beautiful house. There was everything that we needed and more. The views were amazing. The owners are lovely and couldn't have been more helpful. The space for everyone in our group was perfect. It was a privilege to call it our home for a week.

Excellent place to stay with gorgeous views. Great base for exploring the South and West Lake District. Plenty of comfy spaces for us all to spread out and relax. The property comes with all mod cons, even an EV charger which is a bonus.

Fantastic accommodation! So many rooms to relax in - my favourite was the lovely sitting room upstairs with a grand piano, sofas and doors to a patio space with views of the sea past the local town. This is a fantastic cottage for large groups. It was incredibly well equipped and beautifully presented (possibly the cleanest holiday let I've ever stayed in). It's well located for a range of Lake District adventures but also comfortable enough to hide out in during bad weather without feeling like you're on top of each other. The Old Parsonage was the perfect venue for our family holiday! We needed a self catering for 10 (6 adults and 4 children) - this worked out so well. Wonderful location with fabulous views of sunsets over the estuary. Spacious and we'll supplied with books, games and dvds. As a family we enjoyed proximity to all the attractions of the coast and the Lake District with very little traffic in mid August.
