Tackle it in stages, catching steamboats from piers along the shores when you opt not to walk. Hike 5 miles from the shepherd’s hut to reach the stunning beauty spot of Aira Force Waterfall. Climb up to the 950-metre summit of Helvellyn mountain, 4 miles from your base, for breathtaking, panoramic vistas right out across the Lake District.
