Beautiful sandstone cottage in a peaceful location on the edge of the Lake District National Park. Perfect for a romantic getaway, with ample gorgeous walking routes from your door and within reach of Ullswater and Keswick.

A fantastic retreat for two, this cottage is a real gem, located on the edge of the Lake District National Park and North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. An elegant and stylish home from home, the accommodation is all laid out on the ground floor. The open-plan kitchen area is well equipped and has a modern breakfast bar for dining; the living area at the other end of the room has an electric fire in a stunning original fireplace and there's also a separate cosy snug as well. The super-king-size bedroom can be set up as a twin, and the fabulous bathroom has a large shower. The cottage also has its own parking space and outdoor seating for two, a real bonus.

Tucked away in the peaceful Eden Valley village of Edenhall but easily accessed from the motorway, you’ve got the best of both worlds here. Thanks to its location on the edge of the Pennines, there are a wealth of fantastic walking opportunities close by. Experienced hikers can tackle Cross Fell, the highest mountain in the range, with stunning panoramic views from the top. If lower-level walks are more your thing, follow The Ladies Walk, a pleasant loop through open countryside and along the banks of the River Eden. Enjoy a home cooked meal at the village hotel, just a stone's throw from the cottage; you are also welcome to book in at the hotel for breakfast. A scenic drive will take you to beautiful Ullswater; enjoy a lakeside picnic and visit the magnificent Aira Force Waterfall, before enjoying a scenic cruise around the lake on the popular Steamer. The historic market town of Penrith, with its ruined castle, is just a 10-minute drive away and has a great selection of shops and eateries, ideal for amenities or an evening meal out.

Head into the Lake District and spend a day in the bustling market town of Keswick; indulge in some retail therapy, walk the picturesque 10-mile route around Derwentwater or treat yourselves and take in a performance at the renowned Theatre by the Lake. Spend a day exploring the border city of Carlisle, where you can learn all about the rich Roman history of the area. A scenic drive East will take you into the heart of the North Pennines, a well-deserved Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Explore Alston, reputedly the highest market settlement in England, hike up High Cup Nick or visit High Force Waterfall. The Yorkshire Dales are also within easy reach - you really are spoilt for choice here!

The accommodation of this property is all laid out on the ground floor, but please note, there are three steps down into the living area.

The open-plan layout of the kitchen-living-dining room gives the cottage a real sociable feel. With three windows, the space is lovely and light - you're sure to feel instantly at home here. The living area has an inviting sofa, wall-mounted Smart TV and an electric fire sitting in a beautiful feature stone fireplace, ideal for relaxing evenings in. At the other end of this open-plan room is the well-equipped kitchen. In here you'll find everything you'd need for a self-catering holiday, including an electric oven and hob, built-in microwave and fridge, and a handy dishwasher. A modern breakfast bar seats two on stylish silver and black stools, a great spot for keeping the cook company before enjoying your delicious home cooked meal.

In addition to the living area, there's also a separate snug. Another beautifully decorated room with feature wood panel-effect wallpaper and a cosy sofa, it's the perfect place to escape to with a good book.

The spacious bedroom is sure to delight. With a super-king-size bed and a Smart TV, why not bring your cuppa back to bed and enjoy a leisurely start to your morning? The super-king-size bed can also be made up as a twin upon request, so the accommodation here is flexible. The bedroom is large enough to have a dedicated dressing area, a real treat. There's plenty of storage here, and a handy full-length mirror.

Last but by no means least, is the fantastic shower room. The stylish shower room comes complete with WC, washbasin with light up mirror above and a super, modern shower cubicle, ideal for reinvigorating muscles tired from walking. There's also a useful heated rail for cosy warm towels.

Outside, the cottage has its own off-road parking space, and there's outdoor seating for two, perfect for an al fresco aperitif after a day out and about. The cottage is one of three that sits within the walled garden of the adjacent Vicarage. Guests are welcome to walk around the delightful, shared area between the cottages, when the main gate is open.
