One of three holiday cottages in a converted stone barn, this retreat commands superb views of the surrounding countryside from the vantage point of Threlkeld village, 5.5 miles from Keswick.

This cottage is part of a large stone built barn sympathetically converted into three self catering holiday cottages, situated in an imposing position at the foot of Blencathra with stunning views across the valley to Threlkeld Common and Clough Head. The start of a walk up Blencathra can commence from the front door of the property.

 

There is a family-friendly pub serving local real ale and home cooked food situated very close by with two more great country pubs in Threlkeld only 1 mile away, all serving good food and fine ales.

 

The market town of Keswick is just 5 miles away, reachable by car along the A66 or by a lovely walk, part of which follows the old railway line with wooded areas and passes by the Victorian iron railway bridges. The imposing mountain of Skiddaw is also only a short distance away. The large private patio area to the front of the cottage has wonderful views across the fells and is south facing. A further BBQ and picnic area is shared with the two adjoining holiday cottages. The cottage is situated in an easy accessible position by the A66 but set high up above it.

 

The ground floor entrance leads into the comfortably furnished open plan lounge/diner with TV, DVD, video and CD/Radio. There is a fold up table and chairs in the living room which seats up to four people. The kitchen area leads off and is well equipped with electric oven and hob, fridge,freezer, dishwahser, washer/dryer and microwave.

 

Steps lead down to the large twin bedroom on the ground floor. The spacious bathroom has bath, separate shower, WC and wash basin.

 

Further steps lead up to the first floor double bedroom with en-suite WC and wash basin.

 

The patio area to the front of the property has a table and chairs for sitting out and there is a further shared BBQ and picnic area to the side. Ample parking is available in the parking area to the side of the cottages.

  • Departure: before 10:00, unless otherwise stated in your arrival details
  • 2 dogs allowed. Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week
  • There is an Accidental Damage Deposit of £200 when booking at this property, however this may be waived for £25. We’ll provide more details about this when booking your holiday.

A lovely, comfortable cottage. 10 minutes drive to Keswick. Walk up Blencathra right outside the window. Comfy beds. (We had no problem with the fridge.) The cottage is the MIDDLE one, it is number 2. There are no signs saying "Clough View" - the only sign is for Scales View. The parking is in the large open area opposite the pub (there is a rough Read morehandpainted sign saying "parking for cottage residents only".) There was no noise from the pub, although the road is a bit noisy. Hide

Positives - spotlessly clean and tidy, kitchen well equipped aside from a reliable fridge, bedding good quality. Well located near Keswick. Shower good but drain not working on arrival - was fixed during our stay. Clough view is a nice cottage in scales, could do with improvement in some areas On main bus route into Keswick, lovely pub opposite and scenery is gorgeous also lovely walks, enjoyed my stay

Don't book, Holliday Cottages have much nicer properties to choose from. We found appliances that were faulty and several fittings broken. Not an enjoyable experience at all. On the plus side bedding was clean and the pub opposite was friendly with good food-which was just as well because the fridge doesn't work properly either.

We've stayed in this property a number of times during the past 10 years and it is well located with good access to an excellent pub, good parking and has good usable accommodation. Clean, comfortable beds. Lacked any info on appliances, recycling and could not see a Carbon Monoxide monitor. 4g signal is unreliable so WiFi would be bonus

Great Accommodation in a good location. It was perfect for our needs which was a basecamp for Hiking. Pub next door is perfect for evening drinks & food if required. Kitchen is well equipped and the facilities are very good. I would stay here again.
