you might be worried to be so close the A66 but this was nothing but convenient and we were not aware of the road at all from inside the cottage. Very convenient spot for spectacular hill walking. Lovely spacious layout and warm with comfortable beds. Kitchen chairs are not comfortable but the adjacent sofas are! We had to contact the owner to get the boiler switched on and a couple of light bulbs missing but those were only minor inconveniences. Would definitely choose this cottage again.

Fairly basic holiday cottage but has all you need for a week. Ideally situated for exploration of the Northern Fells with Blencathra right outside the door. Property is on three levels with bedrooms on bottom and top floors so if you dont like stairs it's not for you. Good private parking. Maintenance a little lacking, there were several blown bulbs, a towel rail that regularly fell off the wall and a broken toilet seat that took two days to fix. Would I book it again? No. Why not? There is NO wifi and no mobile phone reception (unless you go outside and up the fell a bit). There is no excuse nowadays for any property not to have wifi - the pub across the road has it so it's not a connection problem. I don't need to surf the internet while on holiday but I do need the weather forecast to plan my walks.
