Great location for walking in Newslands and Coledale. Be aware bathroom is downstairs, bathroom sliding door is hard to shut. Would benefit from curtain over front door as felt exposed going to bath/shower. Instructions for oven would have been useful, fan setting didn’t seem to work but we got it working fine on another setting. Slippers would be useful due to slate floor. Kitchen well equipped, take scales if you want to bake. Overall a homely comfortable cottage. Great location away from bustle of Keswick, which is an easy walk away.

Hi Sally, thank you for taking the time to write a review. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay, it's a lovely place for a relaxing break isn't it? The location couldn't be better if you enjoy getting out on the fells! I really appreciate your feedback and suggestions for improvement, thank you. I'll look into everything you've mentioned. I hope you can come back to explore more of the Lakes soon.

The Escape was exactly as described and spotlessly clean. Right in the centre of the village in a quiet close it is a very short walk to the lakeside and an easy walk to Keswick along a very good path. The 77 bus goes through regularly to Borrowdale, Honister, Buttermere, Whinlatter & Keswick so you may not need a car. Food and drink are available from a pub, cafe and a hotel bar but there is no shop, Keswick is close by though and there is a shop in Braithwaite. The bedroom is really spacious and the bed extremely comfortable. There were throws and cosy blankets which were nice to snuggle into after a long walk and a hot bath. The heating system is effective and the cottage is really cosy, it is a shame the wood burner is for decoration only though, would be nice to get that operational in the future. The kitchen was equipped with all I needed and I appreciated the coffee, tea, salt/pepper grinders and olive oil. The bathroom was all fine with a small bath & nice shower. I was happy with no TV or WiFi and it is made very clear in the description that this is a digital detox cottage. You can get WiFi at the hotel & cafe. There is a very good digital radio in the cottage which I enjoyed listening to. My only suggestions for improvement would be a hand rail on the wall by the bath and the aforementioned wood burner being operational as a cosy focus point in the living room, especially in winter. Also, not suitable for vegans due to the real leather sofa/chair and duck down duvet, not a problem for me however. All in all a lovely, stylish cottage in a quiet location and within easy reach of great walks. I had a great time.

Lovely cottage in the perfect location, especially if you want to escape every day life! I say that in most ways positive but as a warning to some who may not like the fact there is no WiFi provided, and no phone signal within the house, so trying to contact the outside world is tricky! We adapted quite quickly to not having modern day what we thought were necessities and enjoyed the true escapism after all :-)

Hello Heather, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. You really can't beat getting away from it all, can you? The accommodation summary does state that there is no wifi, TV or landline with a limited mobile signal. However, I am pleased to hear that you adapted quite quickly :) Here's to getting away from it all more often!
