Stanley House is an impressive Victorian mid-terrace house, enjoying an elevated position close to Bassenthwaite Lake. The spacious accommodation is laid out over the ground and first floors (the second floor bedrooms aren't available for guests to use). The lovely living room has a large bay window, an open fire and double doors that lead through to the dining room. At the rear of the house is the well equipped kitchen and a useful utility room. Up the stairs on the half landing you'll find the family bathroom and shower room before reaching the three bedrooms - a super king (this room can also be made up as a twin upon request), a twin and a single - on the first floor. At the rear of the cottage is a pretty garden and there's also parking for two cars off the road in front of the cottage.
There are lots of great walking opportunities close to Stanley House. Walk from the door down to Bassenthwaite Lake, or Setmurthy Woods are a popular choice with both walker and mountain bikers. Why not bring your bikes with you and head out to explore on two wheels? Enjoy a peaceful riverside walk at Isel or head up popular Sale Fell, a short but fairly steep climb, though the views from the top are certainly worth the effort! You'll be ready for some refreshment after all that exercise and the popular Pheasant Inn is a short walk across the A66 from the cottage, and even closer is Bassenthwaite Lake Station cafe and restaurant featuring the carriages from the film set of Murder on the Orient Express.
Keswick is just a 15 minute drive from the cottage. With a great selection of outdoor and independent shops, you can indulge in some retail therapy. Treat yourself to an evening out and take in a show at the renowned Theatre by the Lake or watch a film at the family-run Alhambra cinema. The Georgian market town of Cockermouth is also within easy reach. Visit the childhood home of William Wordsworth or take a tour of the Jennings Brewery. Why not continue west to the picturesque Solway Coast? Perfect for a day by the sea.
