Holidays in South Lake District

Self-catering holiday accommodation in the South Lakes

The South Lakes area of the Lake District is one of the most popular spots to holiday in the UK. Literary ties to Beatrix Potter fill the region, water sports are aplenty on Windermere and Coniston Water, and walking across the south fells offers panoramic views of some of the most beautiful locations in the UK.

Across the Lake Windermere region, spanning villages such as Hawkshead and Near Sawrey, you’ll find a number of attractions celebrating the life of Beatrix Potter, including places where she used to work and live. Grasmere was the place that inspired many of the poems of William Wordsworth, and is also home to a famous gingerbread shop.

It also includes a stretch of unspoilt coastline, with charming places such as Ravenglass showcasing this often-overlooked stretch of British seaside.
