A beautiful Lakeland cottage with stylish interiors, Smithy Cottage is a wonderful retreat for 4 to 5 people.
Head inside and you're sure to feel to right at home. Smithy cottage is full of charm and character from the wood burning stove and window seats in the open plan living-dining room to the abundance of original beams and cottage doors. Gather round the dining table, which extends to seat 6 and is perfect for a catch-up on the day's events over a hearty home-cooked meal. Choose between one of the two two-seater Harris Tweed sofas or the comfortable pouffe and relax in front of the fire, just perfect for cosy nights in. The living area opens to the beautiful country kitchen. which is well equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, a dishwasher and a larder fridge in addition to the large fridge/freezer in the barn. The chefs in the group are sure to love cooking in this well stocked kitchen! The pretty pale blue AGA gives out a constant comforting heat. It’s no longer used for cooking but is great for keeping food warm. The slate kitchen floor also benefits from underfloor heating.
Upstairs on the first floor are the three gorgeous bedrooms. First up is the beautiful master bedroom. With a pretty metal-framed double bed, this is a calm and relaxing room complete with a quaint window seat, perfect for enjoying a peaceful moment with a cup of tea and a good book. There is also a handy chest of drawers and bedside tables, plus a tall boy for storage and a quirky wicker chair. The lovely colourful twin room also has a delightful window seat as well as a wardrobe, bedside tables and a chest of drawers. Last, but by no means least, is the cosy single bedroom with its solid wooden bed, matching furniture and a woodland feel.
Also on the first floor is the family bathroom, beautifully decorated with pale blue/cream tones and delightful quirky accessories. As well as the WC and washbasin, there's a bath with shower over and a separate handheld shower attachment, meaning all tastes are catered for, whether you prefer a long soak in the tub or an invigorating shower.
As well as parking for one car, next to the front porch is a handy external boot store. The stone barn next to the cottage doubles as a useful utility area and in here you'll find a tall fridge-freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer, as well as a laundry maid. There's also a retractable washing line in the garden if you prefer to dry your clothes using fresh air. In addition, there is space in here for storing bikes if you fancy exploring the surrounding beautiful countryside on two wheels. Behind the cottage is a wonderful garden, with areas of lawn, trees and outdoor furniture in a charming walled area that's perfect for an al fresco aperitif. At the bottom of the large garden is Force Beck, a truly magical place that's perfect for a picnic lunch - or simply sit a while and ponder whilst listening to the relaxing sounds of the water flowing by. Please note, there is no fence between the garden and the beck so children will need to be supervised and extra care taken here.
This wonderful character cottage, situated in a beautiful spot, is certainly not one to be missed.
