Warm and cosy cottage, comfortable beds and great views. A great base to explore the surrounding fells both high and low. If peace and quite is what you want then this is the place, hardly anyone around when we were there in February. Nearest pub about 2 miles away (great food and drinks) and shops 5 miles away (well stocked for a village store).

Wow, Stephen! This certainly sounds the perfect cottage for you! I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay here and hope you'll be able to return to the Lakes very soon....

Great little location if you're looking to be in secluded spot. Some fantastic walks and hikes within walking distance. Very clean and well presented. Excellent value for money, would definitely stay again.

Hi John, The Screes is the perfect place to get away from it all isn't it? The location really is stunning. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed some good walks, there's so many to choose from in this area. Here's to the next Lakes adventure!

Not as private as expected and too far from amenities. Interior had just been painted so smell was overpowering.

Hi Peter, thank you for taking the time to write a review. I'm sorry to hear you could still smell paint when you arrived, I hope it wasn't too much of a problem.
I think a lot of people are attracted to The Screes for its rural location, the scenery here is some of the best the Lakes has to offer! I hope this made up for the lack of amenities nearby. If you'd like any help choosing somewhere to stay for your next visit to the Lakes I'd be only too happy to help.
