Alton, Hampshire Couple
- The cottage was great, very warm and cosy when we arrived - so much so that we never felt the need to light the fire in the evenings. The area is glorious - we have been many times to the Lakes but never stayed in this part before. The drive across from the M6 was spectacular - just as the sun was going down - a highlight of the holiday in itself. We loved views from the garden, and the windows at the back of the house. Up early enough to see the sunrise on one of the days.
Amazing birdlife flying around in the back of the garden - chaffinches, great tits, blue tits, gold finches - which we appreciated. We loved Wast Water, Drigg Beach (at sunset) Hard Knott Pass etc and were able to catch up with family in more familiar places such as Cartmel and Tarn Hows. Bit of a drive in both cases - but fantastic views along the way!
So great to stay from April 12th just as self catering holidays opened up!
Pub in village currently closed. Would be good to know if this is permanent or not/reflect the situation in the info about the cottage.
Info might also mention very good local shop at the Esso station in the main road.
Very very minor remark - couple more glasses and more/bigger mugs needed!! Only my husband and myself staying this time but would have needed more had we been there with other people.
Cottage worked well with a dog who enjoyed the garden.

Hi Clare, thank you for taking the time to write a review. I'm so pleased you enjoyed your break and got to discover a different part of the Lakes. And weren't you lucky with the weather?
I really appreciate your feedback and suggestions for improvement, thank you. I'll look into everything you've highlighted.
I hope you can come back for some more adventures in the Lakes soon.
