The Retreat is comfortable, well equipped and well maintained, providing an inviting place to return after a day out. A lot of thought has obviously been given to the decor. It is convenient for eating out and for both the main rail line and "The Ratty", as well as being a good centre for visiting the western Lake District and the coast. There are also pleasant local coastal walks with views across the estuary. The only negative is that the parking area can be busy and quite muddy after wet weather.
The Retreat can be thoroughly recommended.

Loved our time at the retreat. This was the second time we have been here and loved each time. The retreat is a lovely base for walks and riding. Would thoroughly recommend.
