Exactly what you need for a night away, one double bed, cosy but quite cold with high barn ceilings. Take all your basics with you. This holiday stay doesn’t have the usual, oil, salt, pepper, milk and cupboard basics. The freezer needed defrosting as the door wouldn’t close. we could not work the tv at all, only had one channel -Yesterday channel. We are tech savvy but the tv through us.

North Mill is a delightful cottage within a small complex of cottages with plenty of grounds and off road car parking space. The cottage is furnished to a very high standard and lots of lovely little design touches such as the owl in the internal window and wood burning stove in the sitting room. Although the house was warm I also lit the stove on a couple of occasions as the ambience in winter is beautiful. Outside there is plenty of space for dogs although the river runs through the garden so you might need to keeps dogs on the lead if they love water like mine do. The river itself was quite low despite the recent rain so I could let them swim on occasions. The hall downstairs was a reasonable size for cleaning up wet dogs before going upstairs. Although the bathroom and toilet were downstairs I didn’t find this an issue and the bathroom has both a bath and separate bath which was great. Plenty of walks from the cottage although a car is most beneficial to explore further afield. Definitely a great place to stay and the owners were very helpful and friendly.

The location is great for getting out for some good walks and the cottage is lovely and cosy to come home to after a day out in the fresh Lakes air.
