Forming part of an impressive Grade II Listed former Almshouse, North Lodge is an intriguing property, enjoying a prime position just across the road from the beach at Allonby. Cottage 8 has been lovingly renovated and now provides homely accommodation for 2 people and 2 lucky dogs. The accommodation is all laid out on the ground floor and inside you'll find a well equipped kitchen, modern shower room, spacious double bedroom and fantastic living room with cosy electric fire. Both the bedroom and living room have wonderful sea views, whilst the rear garden area looks out over the surrounding countryside.
Allonby is a charming seaside village on the beautiful Solway Coast. Walk from the cottage door down to the sea, enjoy a bracing walk along the beach before treating yourselves to fish and chips and an ice cream in the village. The Solway Coast is renowned for its stunning sunsets so remember to pack a flask and enjoy a hot chocolate whilst taking in the evening sea air. The Cumbrian Coastal Way passes through the village or take in a round of golf at Maryport Golf Course - try not to get too distracted by the view!
For those interested in history, there's certainly plenty on offer nearby. Fans of maritime history should head to the harbour towns of Maryport and Whitehaven, or spend a day in the border city of Carlisle where you can learn all about the area's Roman heritage at the fantastic Tullie House Museum. For those who'd prefer to indulge in a bit of retail therapy, head to the Georgian market town of Cockermouth or bustling Keswick for a great selection of outdoor and independent shops.
North Lodge Cottage 8 can be booked alongside the neighbouring North Lodge Cottage 9.
