- A lovely, spacious and light cottage. Two buildings made into one house with separate staircases. The large kitchen area in particular a great place to hang out. Nice bathrooms and pleasing decor throughout. Lots of places to sit if you want some space of your own. Would perhaps benefit from somewhere to store food in kitchen but it didn’t bother us. Utility room with washer and dryer. Very useful! By the side of a brook which leads to the river; although very fast flowing water so you’d have to be careful with little ones. Peaceful hideaway. Close to beautiful Wastwater. Pubs etc around but most a drive away. WiFi good in most of cottage but sketchy or non existent in the upstairs part of old mill section of the house. No fenced garden but surrounded by open green space with two wooden bench tables at the side of house. Woodlands tearoom excellent food just a short walk or car journey away. Best to book first! A great place to stay but be aware that it’s not in the midst of a bustling Lakes village so everywhere a car journey. Nearest small shop 10 mins drive away. Sea scale about 20 minutes away and worth a trip for the very pebbly beach and lovely seafront children’s play area.
