First and foremost, it’s a lovely location overlooking the fells, it is spacious and a great base for the western lakes. Trips to the ratty, Ennerdale show, the Beacon, Ullswater steamers and somewhat surprisingly litter picking on the beach - were all enjoyed.

The cottage had electric heaters that work well when needed - it wasn’t cold enough for the fire and the on demand water heater was good. There are lots of guide books provided and we enjoyed the dvd library too.

So the “could do better” - the cleaning was poor, the grill pan had the previous occupants greasy reminders, wash the pans before using them and we left the mouldy spatula as we found these were all around food it was disappointing but we got over it. The leaky fridge (new seal needed) and dripping loo (use a pan to stop wet socks! - just lower your overflow a bit) need sorting.

Overall it was a great base in a beautiful part of the world and we’d go back

Booked for Christmas week and although I had asked prior to arriving about decorations a Christmas tree was not provided. Which was disappointing and should of been communicated. There is a long list of equipment the cottage needs to replace including the mattress on the single bed, mop, door mats, tin opener, amongst other things. Tv only has basic channels. Once the house had warmed up with the spare electric heaters it was comfortable. Parking is very tight! Lund cottage is in a lovely area with great views and is wonderful for a nice basic country break however I wouldn’t choose to use this cottage again for the price, as it needs a little tlc to make people feel welcome and invited. (Eg a little welcome hamper/basket would be nice)

Hi Alexandra, thank you for taking the time to write a review. Although there wasn't a tree at the cottage other Christmas decorations were provided. The TV has all the Freeview channels that are available in the Loweswater area and the owner has also supplied some DVD's for your entertainment. I really appreciate your feedback as the owners are always adding new equipment as required and will look into your suggestions. I hope you still managed to enjoy your break despite these issues. The location is stunning isn't it and snuggling up with the wood burner at the end of a long day's exploring is the best! If you would like any help choosing somewhere to stay for your next visit to the Lakes please get in touch and I'll be happy to offer some suggestions.
