Lovely cottage in a great place. It was unfortunately let down by the cleanliness, which was generally good but the crockery/cutlery in particular was dirty and while this would have been understandable in usual times, in the current circumstances this wasn’t ideal.
The kitchen could really do with a dishwasher to lessen this issue. The garden could do with more seating too as we struggled to sit out as a family in the garden.
We had an issue with the WiFi going off half way through our week. Sally’s advised us this was BT installing new broadband and should be finished that same day, however we had no internet for the remainder of the week. We chased this with Sally’s again but had no reply.
The neighbours are very friendly and had good advice of where to go. A great place to go for a relaxing break.

Comfy beds, tasteful, uncluttered decor, very efficient electric heaters, plenty of hot water. However, this cottage has a serious damp problem as evidenced by the full dehumidifiers and strong, unpleasant damp cellar smell on arrival. This was predominantly in the bathroom, one of the bedrooms and the kitchen. There was mould on the shelves in the kitchen cupboards as well as on some of the utensils, pans and other items. The exterior of the property has green algae on it so doesn't look as sunny as the picture on the website. Book with caution. I was unhappy with the way my complaint was handled. Got there in the end though, partially.

Hello Kath,

I appreciate you taking the time to leave a review, although I am sorry to hear that Lund Cottage was not all that you expected it to be. Please do always feel free to contact me during your stay and I will do all I can to improve your enjoyment. The issue you highlight with the damp has been addressed and will continue to be monitored. The owner has also arranged for the exterior of the property to be cleaned. I am pleased that you found the cottage to be comfortable and warm otherwise and do hope you are able to return to the Lake District in the future.

First and foremost, it’s a lovely location overlooking the fells, it is spacious and a great base for the western lakes. Trips to the ratty, Ennerdale show, the Beacon, Ullswater steamers and somewhat surprisingly litter picking on the beach - were all enjoyed.

The cottage had electric heaters that work well when needed - it wasn’t cold enough for the fire and the on demand water heater was good. There are lots of guide books provided and we enjoyed the dvd library too.

So the “could do better” - the cleaning was poor, the grill pan had the previous occupants greasy reminders, wash the pans before using them and we left the mouldy spatula as we found these were all around food it was disappointing but we got over it. The leaky fridge (new seal needed) and dripping loo (use a pan to stop wet socks! - just lower your overflow a bit) need sorting.

Overall it was a great base in a beautiful part of the world and we’d go back
