Lamplugh is a great starting point for exploring the quiet western Lake District. Loweswater is three miles away with a beautiful lakeside woodland and an award winning pub at the head of the lake. Ennerdale is also close by and is one of the most remote and lonely valleys in the Lake District. There is superb fell walking in the valley and a wonderful sense of solitude.
Low Millgillhead is well situated for enjoying the Cumbrian coastline where you can enjoy pony trekking, fishing and bird watching. Cockermouth is the nearest town, just 15 minutes away. It has a friendly atmosphere with several good cafes, independent shops (including some good antique shops) and a Sainsbury’s.
