General Description

Hyggeby Lodge is a Scandinavian built lodge with excellent green credentials and a low carbon footprint; the owners wish to encourage green tourism and are members of Nurture Eden which is part of Nurture Lakeland. The lodge is well insulated and the electricity all comes from renewable sources.

You enter the lodge by the front door into a lobby with boot and coat racks, which then leads into the main living area, which is light and spacious with woodburner (fuel provided) and superb views across the countryside to the Pennines and Eden Valley.

The lounge area has a huge L shaped leather sofa, wide screen Sony TV, Humax digital recorder, DVD, Video and Stereo/radio, together with numerous books and board games. The dining area features a large bay window with a window seat.

The well equipped kitchen has full sized dishwasher, microwave, fridge with freezer compartment and electric cooker with double oven. There is a high level drying rack for drying clothes.

The double bedroom has a king size bed and has been extended to feature a spacious layout with an en suite with a large power shower, WC and washbasin. Both the double and the twin bedroom have fitted wardrobes and a smaller bedroom has bunk beds. The separate shower room also has a large power shower, WC washbasin and electric towel rail.

The lodge is surrounded by lawned gardens and hedges with a number of trees. There is access along the north west side to one other property but other than that it is very private and has a lovely garden, landscaped with native species. An elevated decked terrace, accessed directly from the living area, provides a great place for for watching the birdlife over a morning cup of coffee or evening glass of wine or alfresco dining on the warmer days. (Please note that although the garden is mostly flat, it slopes away steeply to the north corner).

Hyggeby Lodge is located in a quiet position with permanent residents nearby, and is therefore not available for stag or hen parties or those who like to party until the small hours. However, groups of walkers, cyclists, and those with a genuine love of the Lakes who like to spend their days in the great outdoors and their nights in quiet recreation or tucked up in bed will be more than welcome. Although we accept that occasionally glasses and cups will get broken, any other breakages or damage must be notified to the owners or Sally's Cottages as soon as they occur, so that repairs or replacements can be organised for future guests. All such breakages or damage caused by any member of your party must be paid for.
