High Brow is a traditional stone cottage in a rural position above the Ullswater valley. It boasts views towards High Street and Helvellyn and is ideally suited to walkers and outdoor enthusiasts.
High Brow sleeps 8 people in 4 bedrooms all of which have superb views. High Brow can be hired at a reduced rate for groups of 6 or less. There is a bathroom with bath and shower over, a ground floor shower room and a third WC. It is an ideal base for walkers, cyclists and mountain bikers who can enjoy superb access to the fells right from the door.
The cottage is perfectly situated for exploring the quiet fells of Dowthwaite and Matterdale that lead onto the Helvellyn range. There is an old coach road nearby that allows you to cycle off road to Threlkled where the bridleway joins up with the old railway line to Keswick.
Ullswater is three miles away. There are charming pebble beaches all along the lakeshore to discover. You can also hire rowing boats, motorboats and canoes at Glenridding or Pooley Bridge and explore the tiny islands that are dotted around the Lake. Although High Brow is on a secluded lane it is only a mile from the nearest pub in Dockray. There is a nice beer garden at the Royal Hotel and a good menu in the bar and restaurant.
One of our Facebook fans, Kim Whitney, recently shared this comment after staying at High Brow: "Just returned last Friday from a week at Highbrow Cottage, nr Dockray with Sally's Cottages. My first time in the Lake District and I am completely in love with it! How did I ever miss this part of England?! It's sheer beauty is breathtaking! Did so much walking and cannot wait to get back there!"
