We had a lovely week staying at the Hideaway in Windermere…an incredibly special spot and situated just off the high street. Fantastic Location.
The cottage was roomy and had everything we needed but we were only two and the downstairs loo was out of action all week. TBF a very nice plumber did come over on Saturday morning to fixed the compact loo but we said we could live without it as spare parts needed ordering.

We felt that the kitchen cutlery was pretty scant and a bit basic.
We didn’t use the dishwasher but all other appliances worked well.
Great TV. Nice sitting room…all a bit sparse but I know this is due to Covid.

The kitchen floor needed a really good scrub and the dust around the stair rails was worryingly deep…we are not that fussy but I felt that things were meant to be given extra special attention due to COVID…new rules are to vacate property earlier to give more time for cleaning.
Also I spent a couple of hours re hanging and repositioning the curtain hooks as the curtains were literally hanging from their strings rather than the Ruffelett hook pockets.
Despite some of the feedback we had a lovely time.

Hi Claire, thank you for taking the time to write a review. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. It's a lovely place for a relaxing break in a beautiful part of the Lakes isn't it?
I'm sorry to hear that some of the cleanliness wasn't up to scratch when you arrived. Thank you for letting me know, I'll make sure it's addressed with the cleaners. I really appreciate your other feedback too, I'll make sure we look into everything you've highlighted.
I hope you can come back to explore more of the Lakes soon.

The location is excellent for all the local amenities which include local supermarkets, butchers, restaurants, bars, gift shops, pet shop and lots of other shops and the walk to Bowness-On-Windermere takes about 10-15 minutes.

The are some great local trails around the area and it's well worth that you download an app for local trails before you arrive, if you speak to many locals they will all give you lots of great advice based on your level of walking that you wished to do.

The property was ok and that the downstairs furnishing needed some cleaning especially the oven which was disgusting and that we refused to use it, on numerous occasions during our stay we could smell excrement in the kitchen area and we we're unsure whether it was coming from the saniflow toilet at the end of the kitchen which again we never used.

We have never known so many flies in a property and that we just put it down to having the windows open and the time off year, the arrival and departure times hopefully improve as time goes on due to COVID-19 (5pm arrival time and 9am departure)

We did leave late the day before our departure as we didn't want to get up at 6am on the day of departure, the property overall wasn't for us.

I'm sorry to hear that the oven wasn't as clean as it could have been when you arrived. I really appreciate you bringing it to my attention, thank you. Hopefully, the check in and check out times should be able to get back to normal soon.

We had a lovely week at The Hideaway with our two kids. It’s a very spacious cottage with handy parking and so central! I hate to complain but there were a few wee things that could have been better like the pillows which were falling apart inside a little so quite uncomfortable and I didn’t realise it was a washer/dryer so on the first day I managed to shrink all my sons t-shirts as the dryer cycle blasted them! I then learned after how to switch that cycle off. We would definitely return though.
