Herdwick Croft is a beautifully situated and well-appointed house ideally placed at the head of Bassenthwaite Lake as it flows into the river Derwent. The house benefits from being in a beautiful spot between the vibrant towns of Keswick and Cockermouth. The building itself has a wonderful façade with wide bay windows and a central balcony perfect for taking in the stunning surrounding views.
The house offers spacious and comfortable accommodation for eight guests with three double rooms and a twin. It has ample living and dining space for a gathering of family or friends and also boasts a games room with a pool table. A stay here includes access to the gym and spa facilities at Armathwaite Hall Hotel.
There is superb walking in the Bassenthwaite area around Herdwick Croft. Skiddaw, Sale Fell, Binsey and Dodd Wood are all within a 5-10 minute drive. The lakeshore is only a three-minute walk away and only slightly further off is Dubwath Meadows, a nature reserve with boardwalks and bird hides. Dodd Wood has a small tearoom and signed walks through the forest to the summit viewpoint where there is a stunning vista across Bassenthwaite and Derwentwater. If you’d rather explore the area on two wheels Herdwick Croft is perfectly placed to access Whinlatter forest and a wealth of bridleways locally.
