- Lovely owner and manager, both very attentive and helpful. Location at the foot of a hill opposite the Helvellyn mountains could hardly have been more picturesque and you can literally walk out of the gates into the coast to coast path. Cottage is modest sized, but well laid out and very comfortable for our family of four (including 2 grown up kids and 2 boxer dogs). Gardens are also surprisingly large and despite going in winter, we managed a couple of afternoons sat on the little patio admiring the stunning views. You HAVE to try the hot (locally made) Cumberland sausage baguettes from the lovely little local shop, but we found the local pub (White Lion) overpriced and mainly pre cooked food, feeling like a complete tourist trap (Queens Head in Troutbeck well worth the drive). We would definitely stay again and wholeheartedly recommend to anyone else.
