Lovely owner and manager, both very attentive and helpful. Location at the foot of a hill opposite the Helvellyn mountains could hardly have been more picturesque and you can literally walk out of the gates into the coast to coast path. Cottage is modest sized, but well laid out and very comfortable for our family of four (including 2 grown up kids and 2 boxer dogs). Gardens are also surprisingly large and despite going in winter, we managed a couple of afternoons sat on the little patio admiring the stunning views. You HAVE to try the hot (locally made) Cumberland sausage baguettes from the lovely little local shop, but we found the local pub (White Lion) overpriced and mainly pre cooked food, feeling like a complete tourist trap (Queens Head in Troutbeck well worth the drive). We would definitely stay again and wholeheartedly recommend to anyone else.

Hello Mark, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. It's a super cosy cottage, isn't it? The views are sublime. You couldn't have picked a better location for getting out and about on some fabulous walks. Oh my, the Cumberland sausage baguette sounds divine! I'm thrilled you had a really great stay and I hope you will come back and visit us soon.

This is our second time here and not our last. Perfectly positioned for exploring fells, lakes and tarns. Bowness only 25 mins drive away and a few pubs / restaurants are within walking distance. The local (White Lion <5 mins walk) is fantastic. The views from the cottage are fantastic. It was a pleasure, once again, to stay at Ghyll Foot.

Quirky cottage in a fabulous location. We did very little driving as there was so much to do from the cottage. And whilst there is no access to the thermostat to turn the heating on and off, there is a timer which you can use to extend the heating after 10pm.
