We had a great holiday - weather fantastic. The cottage was comfortable though it needs some TLC.

from the point of having a disabled wheelchair user the cottage was good slightly awkward to get into, but do-able with help. En-suite bathroom was large and useable, the so called wheelchair friendly walk way along the lake side again was do-able but certainly not easy and we had a mobility scooter ! From an abled body point of view the setting of the cottage was beautiful and it felt like you were going back in time as you walked through the door. kitchen was typical farm house, sitting room was like my grand parents with an open fire unfortunately the tv didn't have a signal but to be honest it was lovely not to have it on and the 2 children with us were happy to play the old fashion way cards etc when they weren't playing with farmer Jim's dog. The upstairs bedrooms were lovely and airy and a view from every window. Unfortunately we did have a problem with very persistent flies and my daughter was stung by a wasp while sleeping one night, to find quite a few dead ones in the master bedroom the next morning. felt the place could do with a good deep clean and freshen up but bare-able if you don't mind spiders lol All in all a lovely place but don't expect a up to the day modern home eg the tumble drier was under the stairs and had to be hauled out every time and certainly no Wi Fi Bliss, unless there's an emergency.. The surrounding countryside needs to be seen to be believed with many good walks/hikes. For August it was very wet and windy but once you were through the door it was warm and cosy. The cottage is situated close to most of the main lakes and even with bad weather we managed to visit most of them even venturing up to see Hadrians Wall.

Hi Janice, very many thanks for leaving such detailed comments, I promise I will investigate them all. So happy to hear you enjoyed plenty of 'old fashioned' pastimes - it can be blissful to disconnect for a while, can't it?
