Lovely cottage and location, great walks from the door.
As other reviewers have said, it is perhaps a bit tired looking inside, but that actually adds to the charm. However, the cottage was far from clean on arrival, and that was irritating because we were being asked to leave extra time for cleaning because of the pandemic. cleaners had left in a rush and left dusters on the shelf and not cleaned under sofas or beds. We didnt contact sally's cottages about this as we are no cleanliness obsessives ourselves, and could put dusters away etc but it's the policy of please leave extra time for cleaning that may need some attention.
The other thing that's not very clear in the description is that the cottage adjoins the owner's property and that one can hear owner talking/ their dog barking through the walls of the kitchen and upstairs bathroom. Still had a great week but hope this feedback is helpful to others.

Hi Anneke, thank you for taking the time to leave some feedback. I'm so sorry to hear that some of the cleanliness wasn't up to scratch when you arrived at the cottage. I really appreciate you bringing it to my attention, I'll make sure it's addressed with the cleaners.
I'm glad it didn't spoil your holiday and you enjoyed your break. The location is stunning isn't it? Just perfect if you enjoy getting out for some good walks.
I hope you can come back to explore more of the Lakes soon.

Stunning location! Very well-equiped and comfortable spacious farmhouse cottage. Its attached to historic Hartsop Hall where Jimmy the friendly farmer runs the busy farm. The lambs were just adorable and its imperative to keep your dog on a lead. Don’t expect a modern super smart cottage- its old fashioned and very charming. We arrived over the spectacular Kirkstone pass- not to be missed. The Brotherswater Arms serves very good food but you need to book. We arrived in need of a break and Dovedale cottage worked its magic!

The first time we've stayed her and very pleased. Particular positives are comfy beds, kitchen table, viewseffective central heating and hot water. Location good for walking to the lake, surrounding hills and Brotherswater Inn for evening meal. Other facilities only a few minutes drive up the road in Patterdale and Glenridding.
