Property code: SZ051

Tucked away on a quiet terraced street in bustling Keswick, this one-bedroom apartment promises the ideal bolthole for a romantic retreat.

This ground-floor apartment has been freshly furnished and decorated throughout, with a real eye for design. It is bright and airy and the pastel hues of blue, green and slate-grey perfectly mirror the surrounding mountainscape. The large open-plan living room/kitchen area is a wonderfully relaxing space and has all of the conveniences that you might want, a comfortable armchair by a large bay window, a double sofa, a large dining table for meals  and even a desk space. The delicate balance between elegance and comfort makes this a perfect space to unwind.

A comfortably furnished king-size bedroom looks out onto a narrow but delightful courtyard, which has a small outdoor table - great for enjoying your morning coffee. The spacious en-suite bathroom has a spa feel, with its Moroccan tiled floor and a large shower with luxurious waterfall effect shower head. The large sink space with lit mirror is great for those wanting to glam up for a night out in Keswick.

The apartment is located in a quiet part of the town yet it is just a 5-minute walk into the market square of Keswick where an abundance of pubs, cafes, restaurants and local shops make this a great place for browsing and relaxing. Don't miss Keswick's regular market, on Thursdays and Saturdays, where you can sample a range of local produce. The famous Alhambra Cinema is also just a short stroll away and a 15-minute walk will take you to Crow Park on the northern shore line of Derwentwater, where you can visit the Theatre by the Lake, take the Keswick Launch or simply have a stroll along the beautiful lake shore.

Five shallow steps lead from the pavement to the shared front door. When you go through the front door, you enter a small shared porch area and the door to your apartment is on the left. You enter straight into the living room; a bright and welcoming space with high ceilings and beautiful furnishings means you'll feel instantly at home here. The lovely living area has a two-seater sofa and a single armchair next to the large bay window with fantastic wooden shutter. For entertainment there's a basket of books, a large flatscreen TV and Wi-Fi. There is also a space with a desk and chair, for those needing to keep in touch with work - or just write a postcard or two to tell everyone back home about your Lake District adventures.

The spacious living area leads through to an equally spacious kitchen area with a large dining table, so the non-cook can keep the chef company. The modern kitchen is fully equipped with electric hob, oven, micro/grill/combi microwave, large toaster, kettle, fridge, separate three-drawer freezer, washing machine, dishwasher and large sink area. This sociable space is perfect for evenings in.

A corridor leads from living area through to the king-size bedroom - be sure to check out the hidden artwork as you go. There is also a storage cupboard in the corridor containing an ironing board, iron, clothes airer and shoe rack. The bedroom is stylishly furnished with a feature wooden king-size bed, large wardrobe, two bedside tables with lamps and a side table. A hair dryer is also provided in one of the bedside tables.

Patio doors open from the bedroom out onto a small outdoor area. There is a bistro-style table with two chairs, where you can enjoy a relaxing morning coffee. There is also an outside light if you are wanting to sit out of an evening, as well as a handy outdoor tap for cleaning your boots after a day out in the mountains.

A door leads directly from the bedroom into a beautifully decorated bathroom. With Moroccan tiled floor, ample cupboard and sink space for toiletries, a toilet and a large shower with two shower heads (one waterfall effect shower head and one standard), this is a wonderfully relaxing space. There is also a useful heated towel rail.

This was our third visit to this lovely one day bedroomed apartment. Ideally located, clean and with all the amenities. We stayed a week and enjoyed every single day. On our second day we returned to find no power in the apartment. A quick walk to the local office led to an electrician calling within 5 mins. Problem resolved quickly. Perfect specious yet cosy apartment for 2 people. Beautiful furnished and decorated and a fabulous central location and managed to park outside all week. We have stayed in several apartments in Keswick over the years and this is definitely our favourite and will hopefully book again. Thank you.

The Lake District National Park is situated in the north west of England in the county of Cumbria. It is famously home to England’s tallest peak, largest lake, deepest lake and some of the most beautiful views in the British Isles. It has been a major draw for holidaymakers for over 200 years and its popularity shows no signs that this will diminish anytime soon. Adding to the spectacle, there are long-distance walking trails, endless history and culture to appreciate, as well as an unbeatable array of outdoor activities to try in some exceptionally eye-catching locations.

Mountains, lakes, rocky rivers, waterfalls, and valleys lined by stone walls characterise the Lake District National Park. Add to this vision slate-roofed villages, winding country roads, arctic alpine and wildflower meadows, and beautiful birds such as skylarks, curlews, meadow pipits, and lapwings, which all provide the perfect backdrop for a holiday. The poet, William Wordsworth, who lived in Grasmere, wrote a guidebook of the area in 1810, and very little has changed in the region to tie it into the modern world. The centre of the Lake District is dominated by its craggy mountains such as Scafell Pike and its exceptional lakes like Windermere, Ullswater, Derwentwater, Coniston Water and so many more.

Each of the Lake District’s towns has a village sensibility, yet all of them offer handy amenities, cultural attractions and some of the North West’s best places to eat and drink. Top visitor attractions include The World of Beatrix Potter, Sizergh Castle, Hill Top, Go Ape Grizedale, Grizedale Forest, Fellini and Zefferelli’s Cinema/Restaurants, the Bluebird Mk II, Ravenglass Roman Bathouse alongside a world of outdoor sporting and activity providers. Natural landmarks include Aira Force, Tarn Hows, Scaffell Pike, Castlerigg Stone Circle, The Old Man of Coniston, Helvellyn and Skiddaw. Pull on your walking boots and traverse the long-distance walking trails of the Lakes like Wainwright’s Coast to Coast, and the Tour of the Lake District.

As you get to know the region better, you will find evidence of prehistoric and ancient man in the Lake District, as there are standing stones, circles, and rows to find, as well as one of the largest standing Roman buildings in the UK. Visit Ravenglass, one of the UK’s oldest settlements and the only coastal village in the Lake District; it has beautiful waterside views of the Munros of Southern Scotland. Remnants of the region’s industrial activity can be traced in the form of bobbin mills, gunpowder mills, and mines. The Lakes also have some famous literary and art associations, including Beatrix Potter, John Ruskin, Arthur Ransome, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, William Wordsworth, JMW Turner, John Constable, LS Lowry and Percy Kelly.

It could take you five lifetimes to visit each of the places mentioned here; a good way to see more of the Lake District National Park is stay at one of our self-catering holiday cottages. Our range of holiday properties in the Lake District and Cumbria gives you the perfect place to stay in the north west countryside or on the coast. Our self-catering cottages in the Lake District offer lovely holiday accommodation to suit all your needs, from cottages to rent for a romantic getaway to larger properties for the whole family – we even have dog-friendly holiday homes across the Lake District too.
