Indulge in a stay right at the heart of the vibrant Lakeland town of Ambleside. This three-storey, stone retreat sleeps six guests across three bedrooms and welcomes waggy-tailed companions too. Perfectly positioned for Ambleside’s many shops and eateries, it is also ideal for anyone hoping to spend time on or around Lake Windermere. There is a patio for outside dining and taking in the views out across the charming rooftops towards the scenic fells.

Climb the steps up to the front of the house and enter to find a hall and then the bright kitchen/diner. Unpack any tasty Cumbrian produce you have bought in town, then prepare a sumptuous feast that everyone can sit down to at the table by the window. A useful boot room and cellar that make ideal storage spaces are also in this part of the house. After dinner, head through to the lounge to watch your favourite programmes on the Smart TV and to enjoy some quality time together. When the day draws to a close, make your way up to the first floor of the cottage to lay your head in either the twin bedroom or the queen-size. The queen-size room has zip-and-link beds that can also be made up as twins by prior arrangement. The family bathroom is also on this level while a king-size bedroom, with splendid views, can be found on the floor above. Enjoy the fresh air of the Lake District out on the patio on fine days. Have a cocktail out here as the sun sets over the fells.

Stroll 1 mile from the property to see Ambleside’s famous fort. Walk the same distance down to Waterhead on the shores of Lake Windermere. Hire rowing or motor boats here or take a cruise out on the water.

Having taken a while to locate the property it was well worth the searching as the property was beautiful from top to bottom, really cosy and warm with everything you'll need at hand. The location is superb with numerous restaurants and pubs within a few minutes walk. Our first visit to Ambleside but definitely not our last. Really really enjoyed Read moreour stay. 10/10 Hide

Perfect house and location, very quiet and within walking distance of all shops, pubs etc. ideal with a dog with the back utility area when your wet to come in the back door and remove all wet gear. Would definitely come back again

This is an absolutely beautiful cottage and extremely well equipped. Washing Machine and dryer were particularly welcome. Lots of board games including Lakes edition Monopoly which was very useful on a very wet day . Great for our dogs with large boot room and kitchen with washable floor. Fabulously located cottage in the centre of Ambleside but down quiet side street. Beautifully appointed lounge and kitchen-diner. Could sit all day in the two seats in the window, watching the hills and the people walking below. Top bedroom has lack of headroom which isnt mentioned on website. Perfect cottage for us, lots of games for our 10 year old, jigsaws for the adults and lots of space for our black Labrador to sunbathe outside - the boot room doubled up as her bedroom and it was great having somewhere she could escape to at night to get much needed rests after walks and swims in Rydal Water. Another fab stay in this lovely cottage. Ambleside is the perfect place to celebrate New Year and catch up with good friends. Lots of great dog walking spaces and dog-friendly places to eat and drink. Enjoyed dinner at Lucy's and at the Priest Hole, as well as drinks at The Temperance Inn.
