Head down to Coniston to embark upon all or some of the 15-mile circular walk all the way around the lake. Venture into Ambleside to potter in the shops, stock up on local delicacies and dine out. You can also stroll or take a horse-drawn carriage down to the Waterhead Pier where you can board a cruise out on magnificent Windermere.
