Combining rustic charm with a wonderfully peaceful setting, this spacious two-bedroom cottage is perfect for small families, couples or friends looking to escape to the countryside. You’ll have sweeping views towards the Lake District fells, with rolling moorland and scenic walking routes never far away. The cottage forms part of a small collection of properties overlooking Castle Carrock Reservoir (0.5 miles), where you can take gentle waterside strolls and spot local wildlife. For meals out, there’s a lovely pub in Castle Carrock (1.5 miles) where you can also sample local ales. Talkin Tarn (2 miles) has lakeside walks and the chance to try water sports like paddleboarding and kayaking. Head to Brampton (4 miles) to explore independent shops and cafés or spend a day exploring Carlisle’s historic castle and cathedral (11 miles). The Lake District National Park (27 miles) is a renowned destination for long hikes and breathtaking scenery.

The cottage has quite a few original features and a split-level layout. On the entrance level, you’ll have the kitchen, dining area and bathroom, with five steps leading down into the inviting lounge. This impressive space has exposed beams plus a welcoming wood burner to keep you all warm on chilly evenings. One of the property’s standout attributes is the traditional hay rack separating the kitchen and dining spaces – a nod to the building’s agricultural heritage. The well-equipped kitchen opens onto the garden through double patio doors, creating an easy flow between indoor and outdoor living during warmer months. After days exploring the countryside, settle into the comfortable lounge with its seating area and impressive entertainment options. Seven steps lead up from the entrance level to the two bedrooms – one double and one twin – both tucked beneath sloping ceilings and with exposed beams.

In the enclosed garden, you can relax and soak up the gorgeous views over coffee or a cool drink. There’s a lawned area and outdoor furniture so you can dine alfresco on sunny days. You’ll have private parking for two cars directly outside the cottage, making arrivals and departures easy.

A lovely cottage in a beautiful setting with owners who obviously take a pride in the cottages that they rent. Would definitely recommend to others and hope to visit again with extended family
