Set in the heart of Ambleside, this stone cottage puts families and friends right in the centre of one of the Lake District’s liveliest villages. Spend your days exploring the national park, then return to the crackling wood burner or enjoy al fresco dining in the patio garden.
Inside, the cottage opens into a lounge where the wood burner sits beside a Smart TV, creating a comfortable space for evenings after days on the fells. The adjoining kitchen and dining area is arranged for cooking and spending time together, whether you’re making a quick breakfast or an evening meal. At the rear of the ground floor, a boot room and utility area includes a washer/dryer and freezer, with access to the courtyard. On the first floor, two bathrooms serve the property: one with a walk-in shower, the other with a roll-top bath and a separate shower. Also on this level is a king-size bedroom in blue and orange tones. On the second floor, two further bedrooms are configured as super-king zip-and-link beds that can be arranged as twins on request. Rooftop windows bring in plenty of light, giving both rooms an open feel above the village rooftops. Outside, a courtyard offers seating for two, making it a good spot for a morning coffee or an evening drink. Parking is available in nearby public car parks, with one-hour on-street parking directly outside for unloading.
From the front door, streets lead past independent shops, tearooms and restaurants, all adding to Ambleside’s Lakeland character. Woodland paths lead to Stock Ghyll Force (1 mile), where a waterfall runs through the trees year-round, while the shores of Lake Windermere sit less than a mile away, offering walks and water-based activities. Further afield, take to the water on the Coniston Gondola (8.5 miles), explore The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction (6 miles), or head into Grizedale Forest (10.5 miles) for walking routes, cycling trails and outdoor sculpture installations.
