Nestled on the southern edge of the Lake District National Park, this beautiful period property is perfect for large families or groups of friends who want to explore the natural beauty of the Cumbrian coast and countryside. Georgian market town, Broughton-in Furness, is less than 2 miles away with a few quaint pubs and eateries on offer. It’s also a good starting point for gentle countryside strolls in the picturesque Duddon Valley. You’re also well-placed to explore the Southern Lakes, which offer scenic walking routes, water sports and charming lakeside towns and villages.

This beautifully-presented, terrace property is deceptively spacious, with original features adding charm and character throughout. Discard coats and shoes in the hall, before heading into the cosy lounge to warm up in front of the open fire. When it’s time for tea, the well-equipped, contemporary kitchen has everything you’ll need, whilst there is plenty of space in the dining room for everyone to eat together. Arranged over the first and second floors, there are four bedrooms, a bathroom and a shower room. Outside, a long, narrow front garden with sea views is ideal for lively children and dogs. There is bike storage in the backyard.

Whether you prefer gentle strolls or more strenuous hikes, the delightful village of Coniston (11 miles) on the shores of Coniston Water is a good starting point. Just north of there, you’ll find a traffic-free village, Hawkshead (15 miles) which is close to Hill Top (17 miles), once the home of Beatrix Potter. Heading further east you’ll arrive at Lake Windermere, the largest of the National Park’s lakes. If you’re looking for adventures amongst the trees, Grizedale Forest (15 miles) has lots of activities on offer. For something more leisurely, head to Ravenglass (14.5 miles) for a scenic train ride through the Eskdale Valley.

The house is comfortable, clean, with a well equipped kitchen. It was big enough for 4 adults and 4 children. Close to enough stuff to do for the children. Highlights for us were piel castle, Muncaster castle and the ravenglass railway. Parking a big issue, the lack off it if there was a space the locals would move there cars so impossible for you to park and have to park in the bus stop opposite the train station. Nice house just needs a quick refresh with a paint brush.

The cottage was well equipped with comfy beds and a cozy living room. Unfortunately have to agree with previous reviews about the standard of cleanliness. The property was full of cobwebs and spiders which my husband spent around an hour trying to hoover up when we got there. In regards to the parking there is very very limited parking, thankfully Read morethe neighbours were really helpful. Would be useful if the owners could provide more info about the property eg bins, parking. Hide

We enjoyed our stay in the property. It was enough space for 8 people. Location is very good to get to the lakes.

There is absolutely NO parking at this property and the neighbours are extremely rude. The house was not cleaned to standard, floors dirty, cobwebs and smells of damp. No toilet rolls, no kitchen roll, no bin bags or washing up pads left to use. Small counter top freezer and not big enough for x8 people. Fridge door will not close properly. Nice location for visiting the Lakes with lovely views, although be aware that parking is only available on road and is very limited. Property was a little snug for five adults and two children. Although clean the property could do with a refresh as it is starting to look a bit worn with a fair few little repairs needed at time of our stay.
