  • Welcoming cottage with a bright and characterful living space including a warming wood burner
  • Less than a mile from Ullswater, in an Idyllic setting with instant access to iconic Lakeland fells
  • A dog-friendly property with spectacular walks and cycle routes from the doorstep
Property code: OC-93492

This traditional stone-built cottage beside Ullswater and the mountains of the Lake District is an idyllic base for a reviving getaway in nature with your family or partner plus two canine companions. After exploring the surrounding hiking trails, quaint countryside towns and picturesque viewpoints, relax by the fire or sit out on the south-facing patio while the sun goes down.

Climb a couple of stone steps to reach the entrance of the property and step inside to find a bright lounge/diner with wooden furnishings, leather sofas and a crackling wood burner. Next to the window is a small dining table which looks out onto the trees and mountains. Continue into the cosy, neutral-toned farmhouse-style kitchen with wooden worktops and a small breakfast bar. Make use of the under-the-stairs cupboard storage and walk-in pantry in the kitchen. A traditional cottage staircase will lead you to the family bathroom and two bedrooms – a king-size with countryside views and a twin room with an oak wardrobe. Outside is a patio with bench seating and a private outbuilding for storing sports equipment or pushchairs.

While staying in the small village of Glenridding, which is nestled amongst the fells, you can check out the nearby outdoor leisure activities, including biking, water sports and hiking. If you’re up for a challenge, navigate your way to the summit of Helvellyn (1.5 miles), which stands at 950m – the striding edge is for more experienced mountaineers. Take a picnic to Ullswater (0.5 miles) and make a trip to the dramatic Aira Force Waterfall (3 miles). Dine out at the village pub (less than 0.5 miles) or head to Pooley Bridge (8.5 miles) for a wider range of eateries – including a tearoom.

  • 2 bedrooms – 1 king-size, 1 twin
  • 1 bathroom with shower over the bath and WC
  • Electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher
  • Walk-in pantry off the kitchen with washing machine and fridge/freezer
  • Travel cot
  • Wood burner in lounge
  • Smart TV in the lounge
  • South-facing patio with private seating at the front of the cottage, overlooking the fells
  • Off-road parking for 1 car on the gravel parking area at the far end of the terrace
  • Lockable stone outbuilding for storing bikes, sports equipment etc
  • Pub 500 metres, village shops, cafes and restaurants within 1 mile
  • Arrival: 15:30 onwards
  • Departure: before 10:00
  • 2 dogs allowed. Additional charges may apply

Annie's Cottage is beautifully presented in a stunning location, The view from the front is to die for. It's an easy walk in to Glenridding which has a couple of stores for groceries etc. Short, easy drives to other attractions on Ullswater (e.g. Aira Force). We spent 2 weeks in the delightful Annie's Cottage. Sue and Chris were excellent hosts, giving clear instructions on how to get to the cottage, and leaving an excellent folder of information in the house. The house was excellently provisioned, especially the kitchen. The milk in the fridge, tea bags and cake were very thoughtful. Walks right on theRead more doorstep. We don't drive but found the local buses, though not running often, we're reliable and with good planning you could scoot around the northern lakes. The walk to Grasmere via Grisedale tarn is lovely, as were walks either side of the lake up to Pooley Bridge, to Aira Force and up to Gowbarrow, and to Hartsop, were lovely. There are 2 shops in the village which supply a lot of what you need. Inn on the Lake was a treat for us meal wise. Side Farm in Patterdale has a lovely coffee shop. We visited Dalemain and it's wonderful gardens (near Pooley Bridge). I could go on. Its a lovely area to explore and Annies Cottage made the perfect home during our stay. Hide

A lovely little cottage perfect for two of us and our dog. The location is spot on for anyone wanting to get up towards Hellvellyn but it's only a 10 minute walk down into the village as well. Really comfy bed and well equipped kitchen. We enjoyed sitting in the sun on the bench at the front with a beer after a big walk.
