Tucked away on a secluded private estate surrounded by vast, craggy grounds, this property is the perfect getaway for two. It provides a sense of remoteness and tranquillity, yet is only 6 miles from Coniston village and less than 10 miles from the foot of Windermere. It couldn't be better located for exploring the central Lake District! The apartment forms part of a large house thought to have been built as a farm around the mid-1800s, and it still retains many of its period features. More recently, this property and its neighbouring apartment, have been lovingly refurbished by the current owners to offer boutique-style accommodation with all the modern luxuries guests have come to desire. Contemporary furnishings and tasteful decor create a luxurious yet restful home-from-home experience.

For those wishing to relax, this is the perfect place to stay. Indoors you can enjoy a long hot soak in an elegant bathtub, or a glass or wine curled up in front of a roaring log burning stove; outside, the private patio is an idyllic place to unwind on a sunny day or enjoy an evening meal on a summer's night. The views of the surrounding trees and fell tops are surpassed only by glimpses of Coniston Water beyond. The communal grounds surrounding the property are yours to explore; a short stroll leads down to the jetty on the lakeshore, and moderate hikes lead up Beacon Fell where you can enjoy views of the surrounding countryside and visit Beacon Tarn.

A scenic drive along Coniston Water brings you to the bustling Lakeland village of Coniston where boat hire, bike hire, water sports and other outdoor activities such as gorge scrambling and archery can be organised at Coniston Boating Centre. For a more serene way to explore the Water, board the steam yacht gondola and sit back and enjoy the informative commentary and excellent scenery. If you have a head for heights, enjoy a scramble up Coniston Old Man for a picnic with a view. Nearby, Grizedale Forest has a wealth of walking and mountain biking routes, as well as arts trails and a lovely visitor centre and cafe. Historic houses like Brantwood and Hilltop offer an excellent day out, as do Holker Hall and Blackwell Arts and Crafts House just a little further afield.

You'll fall in love with this property the moment you drive up its private road through the delightful estate. Unpacking is easy with parking available close to the front door, relaxing you before you even cross the threshold of this luxury Lakeland retreat. Once through the small shared entrance hall, you're greeted by a warm and welcoming dual-aspect open-plan living space. Hardwood flooring, stripped doors, and windows with original panelling and shutters promote the property's heritage and complement the luxurious and contemporary furnishings.

The property's elevated position provides treetop scenery giving you a sense of seclusion and it makes the perfect romatic getaway. The moment you enter, you'll be drawn to the French doors which open out onto the private patio with fell-top views and glimpses of Coniston Water beyond. The interior has been recently refurbished with a beautiful sense of style and a keen eye for detail. Tones of grey have been used throughout, from the comfortable seating to the restored and modernised mid-century furniture, giving the space a luxurious elegance, while creating a relaxed and calming ambience.

The lounge benefits from a flat-screen TV, DVD player, Freesat box and Bluetooth music system, and the owners have thoughtfully supplied an excellent collection of DVDs, books and game for guests to enjoy. For summer evenings, the patio is an idyllic place to relax immersed in the stunning scenery, while winter evenings can be enjoyed snuggled in front of the log burning stove.

The kitchen is located in the far corner of the communal space and is exceptionally well equipped for a one-bedroomed apartment, complete with induction hob, fridge with freezer compartment, combination oven, grill and microwave, washer/dryer and dishwasher. Spacious drawers are packed with almost every kitchen utensil or piece of cooking equipment you could think of, and there is plenty of storage for your shopping too. If you enjoy your morning coffee, you'll be delighted to find a Nespresso coffee maker complete with a selection of capsules to get you started.

The dining table is beautifully lit and situated in front of the French doors, so at mealtimes, you can marvel at the ever-changing view over the patio towards Coniston Water.

A door leads from the living area into the beautiful bedroom, where the contemporary king-size four-poster bed and freestanding bathtub add a sense of indulgence to the serene and calming decor. The grey tones and hand-painted furniture are echoed in here creating an elegant and coordinated style. Bedside lamps, beautiful mirrors and a feature wall complete the fresh and chic furnishings, and French doors offer a scenic view from the bathtub, as well as linking the bedroom with the enclosed patio. The exposed original floorboards are a reminder of the property's heritage.

A shower room off the main living space houses a walk-in shower complete with mirrored screen, underfloor heating, a wash-basin, toilet, heated towel rail and vanity unit, immaculately presented with stylish tiling.

At the front of the property you can enjoy shared use of the surrounding grounds, perfect for relaxing and exploring alike. Your pooches are also well cared for here as there is a shared doggy shower/bath to the rear of the property which even comes with hot water - lucky things!

Lovely stay, everything we needed for a few days rest and recuperation. Very comfortable and well equipped abode . The boiler was broken in the apartment we had booked so the owner accommodated us in another one which luckily was available. These things happen and the owner dealt with it really appropriately.

We had a great week in the apartment and found it to be very comfortable. It was lovely to spend the day exploring, knowing we would be going back to our cosy base. Being so close to the lake was an added bonus and the dogs really appreciated the whole experience too. Very relaxing - thank you.
