This charming, bright 18th-century converted stable is located within the Lake District National Park in the peaceful village of Uldale. Full of original character features and with all the modern comforts you'd hope for, you really do have the best of both worlds here. On the ground floor you'll find a lovely living room with a cosy wood burner that's perfect for relaxing evenings, and a spacious well-equipped kitchen/diner. Up the stairs on the first floor are the two characterful bedrooms, a lovely king-size and a charming twin, along with the family shower room. Outside there is a seating area with BBQ, as well as a shed for storing bikes should you prefer to get out and about on two wheels, the National Cycle Route 10 is close by.

Uldale is a small village, located in the area known as the Back O' Skiddaw. As well as the famous tearoom and a village tennis court, there are a wide variety of walks on offer nearby. From riverside rambles and peaceful woodland walks to high fells. Serious fell walkers can tackle Skiddaw itself, England's fourth highest mountain. Or why not venture up Binsey, Little Cockup or Great Calva for a fantastic walk rewarded by stunning views. If cycling is more your thing, then there are plenty quieter winding country roads to explore as well as Cycle Route 10.

Though enjoying a peaceful rural setting Bassenthwaite Lake is only 4 miles and Keswick is a scenic 11-mile drive away. Known as the adventure capital of the North Lakes, sign up for an activity with one of the local adventure companies. Have a go at canoeing, raft building, gyhll scrambling - or try the Via Ferrata at Honister Slate Mine, for the very brave only!  Enjoy a lakeside picnic on the shores of Derwentwater or take a ride on the ever popular launch to enjoy the water from a different persepctive. Head to Cockermouth, a charming Georgian market town. Indulge in some retail therapy in the great choice of quirky independent shops or visit Wordsworth House, the birth place poet William Wordsworth, for a spot of culture.

Head inside and into the living room - a wonderful room that's full of charm and character. Take a seat on the sofa or armchairs in here and relax in front of the wood burner, perfect for cosy evenings in front of the fire. For entertainment there's a new Smart TV, or simply catch up with a good book in this calming space.

The kitchen/diner is another spacious room, ideal for sociable mealtimes. The kitchen is fabulous, with its beautiful cream units and atmospheric downlights it's sure to be a hit with the cooks in the group. The kitchen is well equipped with an electric oven and hob, fridge with ice box, a microwave and an integrated dishwasher. There's also a useful integrated washing machine and clothers airer should you need to make use of these during your stay. Gather round the dining table in here and compare notes on the days events or plan tomorrow's adventures over a delicious home-cooked meal.

Upstairs on the first floor you'll find the two lovely bedrooms. The first is a spacious king-size room, complete with award-winning Emma matress and ample storage in the form of a stylish mirrored wardrobe and chest of drawers. With exposed brickwork and original beams, it's a characterful room and the perfect place to indulge in a long lie in. The second bedroom is a twin with a useful chest of drawers for storage. The vaulted ceiling and original beams show the cottage's traditional side. Also on the first floor is the family shower room with WC, wash basin and large double shower cubicle - perfect for reinvigorating tired muscles after a day out exploring.

There's a shed and covered area for storing bikes - ideal if you'd like to get out and about on two wheels for a change. Why not explore part of the National Cycle Route 10 that passes close by? Also outside you'll find a quirky bench and BBQ area as well as an additional table and chairs, ideal for enjoying a meal alfresco or simply relaxing and watching the peaceful comings and goings on this charming rural village. Parking is available in the village.

We booked this cottage as the 1st part of our honeymoon and it surpassed all our expectations. Fiona was amazing with her commutation in advance, so so helpful! The cottage was spotless and incredibly cosy, the bed was to die for. The area is lovely and conveniently located for exploring the lakes. We would happily book again.

A fantastic location if you want a remote quiet holiday home. Friendly village especially the cows passing twice a day. Beds were extremely comfortable, bed linen great . Huge space for 4 people but also very cosy evenings by the log fire. Parking was no issue a space was always left by the cottage . Views were incredible and a tea room 2 mins awayRead more . Nice cottage, lovely scenery but parking was sometimes a challenge as there is no dedicated parking and no garden. There is no local shop and the village pub has now closed. Nice tea room serving excellent food during the day and Sunday lunch was really good.
